For those of you who haven't heard yet, Lord of the Rings : Return of the King received 11 Oscar nominations.
You can check out CNN.com's analysis of the nominees and front-runners here if you're so inclined.
I'm not looking forward to the riots that will surely follow if Return of the King doesn't win at least Best Picture.
Today sees the release of G.I. Joe Season 1 on DVD.
A flash animation dealie has been created to mark the occasion.
Also, feel free to check out the box art for MST3K DVD Collection Volume 5.
For those of you who are fans of Nuno Bettencourt (and I'm well aware I may be the only one here), his new band Population 1 has just opened their new site.
There's not much there yet, but here's to hoping for more.
And while I'm on the subject of Nuno....
In sad news, Captain Kangaroo recently passed away at the age of 76 after a long period of illness.
For more, click here.

This is another one of my older cartoons, but I'm told it's a favorite of several..

I'll probably be elaborating on the events that occurred and the experience itself a little later.
For those of you that haven't heard yet, here's a good bit of information on the new Nintendo DS... (Dual Screen).
Also, Justin at GameGirlAdvance has a pretty good take on the whole thing.

Satellite News has some more info on the upcoming MST3K release. Wahoo!
The WB is working on a remake of cult favorite television program, Dark Shadows.
The next Harry Potter flick may be the most expensive movie ever made.
It occurred to me that some of you might not be acquainted with some of my older stuff, so here's an older picture..

MST3K fans can look forward to more DVD releases starting in March.
No word on whether or not it will be individual episodes, or more box sets though.
The same company will also be releasing a 4-disc Jem Seasons 1 & 2 box set in May.
And while I'm on the subject of animated shows from my childhood on DVD, the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon from '87 will be hitting a store near you in April.
Wahoo!
I'm sure you've all seen it by now, but do check out the trailer for Van Helsing.
Does anyone else think it's an odd coincidence that he looks an awful lot like Eddie Van Halen?
Tycho and Gabe were talking about Van Helsing also, and it made me wish I still got to take part in debates of such a high magnitude on the geekery meter.
Typing Tutor Turbo.
Have fun creating your own superhero with DC Comics, Hostess Snack Cakes, and the wonders of Flash animation.
Also, possibly win a contest of some kind.

Back before Christmas, you may recall me talking about Penny Arcade's attempts to show the world at large that gamers are not anti-social time-bombs just waiting to go off through their Child's Play program.
Here's a little follow up for those of you who are interested.
I'd like to think we (and when I say, I mean anyone who was involved in anyway) did some real good, not only for some very sick children, but for the public image of gamers everywhere.
Home Movies is one of my favorite shows, and the new season just started Sunday.
To celebrate this occasion why don't you watch this clip from one of the new episodes.
It almost made me cry with laughter.
Watch this week's e-mail and then have fun playing not one, but as many as FOUR Strong Bad computer games!
Because you know.. he probably should.
Has anyone ever heard of this show?

Terry Dodson may have just become the be-all/end-all Spider-Man artist as far as I'm concerned.
Look at this.
I can't recall whereas I've ever seen someone create an image of Spider-Man that so deftly captures both a classic and modern feel.
To say nothing of what a good job he did on the villians and supporting characters.
Some DVD news I'm sure we're all glad to hear.
And yes, it does involve Jonny Quest.
New pictures of Elephant-Batman.. what's that? I'm sorry, I've been told he's called "Pilot Batman."

Okay, it's come to my attention that something I tried to put on here earlier wasn't working like I wanted it to.. so here's a revised version:
Step 1: Go to unsignedtalents.com
Step 2: Go to "Search by Genre or Skill"
Step 3: Select the genre "EasyListening"
Step 4: Click on "View Profile" for Simon Richers Mother Moll
Step 5: Listen to or download "Turbo Love"
Step 6: Vote for us after you're done.
Step 7: Tell someone else you know to follow these same 7 steps.
Easy, right?
This is the song Edward and I recorded on New Year's Eve.
Ed wrote the song and is playing guitar and singing lead vocals. I'm singing backing vocals and adding "mmm"s, "that's hot"s, etc.

My apologies for the lack of updates as of late.. I was out of town and working. Back to business as usual..
The MediaSharx have put together their lists of the Best and Worst of 2003.
Apparently Tom Cruise is still very interested in playing Iron Man in a big budget silver screen adaptation. He told Empire Magazine that he thinks it's a very interesting character, but he wants to figure out a way to make the movie something really exciting that doesn't feel like just another superhero movie.
Legal red-tape and such may keep Peter Jackson (or anyone for that matter) from being able to make The Hobbit a cinema reality. Keep 'em crossed, kids.

Idiots try to sue the makers of the Grand Theft Auto series for $250million.
If this is successful, I'd like to sue God for $2.7million for not making real rabbits able to stand on their hind legs and ask, "What's up, doc?"

You are Form 0, Phoenix: The Eternal.
"And The Phoenix's cycle had reached
zenith, so he consumed himself in fire. He
emerged from his own ashes, to be forever
immortal."
Some examples of the Phoenix Form are Quetzalcoatl (Aztec), Shiva (Indian), and Ra-Atum (Egyptian).
The Phoenix is associated with the concept of life, the number 0, and the element of fire.
His sign is the eclipsed sun.
As a member of Form 0, you are a determined
individual. You tend to keep your sense of
optomism, even through tough times and have a
positive outlook on most situations. You have
a way of looking at going through life as a
journey that you can constantly learn from.
Phoenixes are the best friends to have because
they cheer people up easily.

Saw The Matrix Revolutions last night.
I liked it.
I don't know that I need to say anymore.
I mean, it's not like my opinion is going to make any difference to you, you're still going to see it.
But if you were curious, I liked it.
Quick note to the guy that picks the music for all these movie trailers: That "Bodies" song by Drowning Pool wasn't good when it came out, it isn't good now, and (unless there's some kind of horrible temperature change in Hell) it's never going to be good.
On that note, here's the first actual trailer for The Punisher.
I'll warn you, it's not the best trailer I've ever seen, but I still think the movie is going to be pretty good.
Possibly very good even.

I don't know if any of you have been watching the new CGI Spider-Man series on MTV or not, but it's pretty decent.
The first season is hitting DVD in January, and chances are good to very good I'll pick it up.
Though I'm sure I'll leave the theater not feeling right about life, and in a very pensive/introspective mood, I can't wait to see this movie.
I had heard about it in name only, but Carey was good enough to make me realize it was something to which I needed to pay attention.
Once again, I don't even know where to start.

For everyone who's excited about Final Fantasy XI.
More Halloween Safety Tips..
18. Beware of strangers bearing strange tools. For example: chainsaws, nail guns, hedge trimmers, electric carving knives, combines, lawnmowers, butane torches, soldering irons, band saws or any devices made from deceased companions.
19. If you find that your house is built upon a cemetery, now is the time to move in with the in-laws. (It's a toss-up. We know.) This also applies to houses that had previous inhabitants who went mad, committed suicide, died in some horrible fashion, OR had inhabitants who performed satanic practices in your house.
20. (And perhaps the most important..) Always get out as soon as the scary music starts playing.

Pumpkin Simulator 2003!
It's honestly, too much fun.
More Halloween Safety Tips..
15. If your companions suddenly begin to exhibit uncharacteristic behavior such as hissing, fascination for blood, glowing eyes, increasing hairiness, and so on, kill them off immediately. You'll thank yourself later.
16. Stay away from certain geographical locations, some of which are listed here: Amityville, Elm Street, Transylvania, Nilbog (you're already in trouble if you recognize this one), anywhere in Texas where chainsaws are sold, the Bermuda Triangle, or any small town in Maine. Also, California and Ohio are good spots to avoid this and every other time of year. I mean, the answer's in the question.
17. If your car runs out of gas at night on a lonely road, do not go to the nearby deserted-looking house to phone for help. If you think that it is strange you ran out of gas because you thought you had most of a tank, shoot yourself instead. You are going to die anyway and most likely be eaten.

More Halloween Safety Tips...
11. Do not take ANYTHING from the dead.
12. If you find a town which looks deserted, there's probably a good reason for it. Don't stop and look around.
13. Don't fool with recombinant DNA technology unless you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing.
14. If you're running from the monster, expect to trip or fall down at least twice, more if you are of the female persuasion. Also note that, despite the fact that you are running and the monster is merely shambling along, it's still moving fast enough to catch up with you.

4. If your children speak to you in Latin or any other language which they should not know, shoot them immediately. It will save you a lot of grief in the long run. Science seems to be able to find an answer to most anything these days. This article isn't particularly exciting, but I found it very informative and interesting.
It's about the studies that have and are being done showing the distinct differences in the male and female brain. It also goes into detail explaining why we (men and women) react differently to different situations. The ramifications for relationships are fairly obvious to see... so if you're in a relationship, or are planning on being in one, I'd suggest giving it a read.

Get a load of Mr. Updated-His-Website..
You'll be glad you did.
There's been a lot of rumors and such circling about a new Superman movie as of late, now that Jon Peters (aka: the worst producer EVER) has been fired.
Names are being tossed about such as M. Night Shyamalan.
Care to read more?
While we're on the subject of people who tried to ruin franchises (Jon Peters, not M. Night), Joel Schumacher is apparently working on not only special edition DVDs of his Bat-attrocities, but also a sequel to The Lost Boys.
I shudder to think.
And while we're talking about sequels, word has it that Tim Burton is planning on directing a sequel to Planet of the Apes in late 2004.
Dimension Films has said that the rumors of them asking John Carpenter to do a remake of Halloween are completely untrue.
Dah well.. don't forget to pick up They Live! on DVD this Tuesday.

For those of you that don't know, today is my birthday.
My 23rd birthday as a matter of fact.
By some strange cosmic coincidence, Gabe over at Penny Arcade decided to speak on the subject of birthdays today...
"The fact of the matter is I get very excited about my birthday. It's not even all the fabulous presents I expect to receive from my closest friends, although that will be nice. I get excited for the inevitable birthday party. So many of my friends tend to downplay their birthdays and I can't understand why. They might get a few friends together and go out to dinner someplace nice or whatever but that's about it. It seems like after 21 no one is interested in really celebrating on their B-day. I like birthday parties. I like it when all my friends come over and play videogames. Sure that's what we do every Thursday anyway but on my Birthday there will be cake and cake just makes thing better. Everyone gets one special day a year, a day when everyone gets together to party and celebrate simply because you're still around. I say take your special day and milk it for everything it's worth. This September 25th I'll be turning the big two six and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let that slip by with nothing but a dinner at Azteca to commemorate it."
This made me want to try and party a little harder tonight, more so than I had wanted to do before I read it.
Perhaps it will make you want to join me for this partying.

As proof we did indeed play a show Saturday night at the Full Moon...
The new SAVES THE DAY album hits stores today. As you may or may not know I'm a fairly big fan of them, and while I knew it was coming out, I had no idea the first single off of it was so good. (I hadn't heard it yet, sue me.)
My thanks go to Corey for telling me how good it was.
You can go listen to it as well if you like.
It's a bit of a departure for them in comparison to their other albums, but it's choice either way.
I simply cannot say it enough.. the man is a genius.

For those of you that don't know me, I'm a huge fan of The Flash, but I'm not sure whether to be excited or not about this news. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best, as I'd like to be able to watch good shows about both Superman and The Flash on a weekly basis.
I'm also a pretty big fan of the Halloween franchise of films (even though they pretty much suck after the second one, and I refuse to see "Resurrection"), so when I hear that Dimension is trying to get John Carpenter to make a new version of the original Halloween it makes me think that perhaps this is news about which we could all be excited.
Or maybe it'll suck.
I also hear Carpenter is working on a remake of his film, The Fog.
In other horror news, FOX is working on a film described as "Black Hawk Down with werewolves" called Silver Strike. Apparently a team of soldiers is dipatched to deal with a situation only to find out that the people they're facing are werewolves. Fun, yeh?
Billions and billions of dollars are about to be spent on the construction of an elevator into space.. I swear I'm not making this up.
