We're a totem pole..

The most bizarre commercial for a razor I've ever seen.

I'd also like to let everyone (specifically Curt and Joe) know that I finally got around to reading JLA/Hitman #1.

It was okay.

Wonder Woman Jumper
Check out
this girl's awesome Wonder Woman sweater!
It only took her 14 months to make it.

Just one more kick..

Ping Pong Poster
So, I never saw that awful looking Balls of Fury movie, but Tuesday night I did watch Ping Pong.
As you might already know, table tennis is a big deal in Japan.
That poster might make the movie seem kinda silly, and parts of it are, but it's more a "coming to terms with who you are / what friendship means / light drama" kind of movie than a comedy.
I can fly!
Anyway, the point is I really liked it.
While I was watching it I found myself thinking, "I'm going to have to do some fan-art for this to put on the blog."
Here is that fan-art.
Ping Pong : Enter the Hero!
This is the main character, Peco.

My goal when drawing this was to get it done as quickly as possible without too much thinking so that I could go to bed. To that end, my goal was accomplished.
His arm is intentionally very long, but (stylistic choice or not) I think I went a little too far with it.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't already started thinking about doing more fan-art with this movie's characters.

I think I know how he felt...

If anyone knows who's responsible for this, please let me know.

Certain stars..

UPDATE!
I went back and added a few captions to all of the pictures from the Brit #1 "A Series of Images.." entry just below this one. (Editor's Note : You have to click on the photos to see the captions.)
If you don't care for what passes for humor or commentary around these parts it's okay to skip it.
It's not much of a value add, but it's there, so I figured you should know.
Just in case.

It's kind of a rough one...

Brit #1
And now for what I'd like to call, "A Series of Images Illustrating Why You Should Be Buying Brit".
The following panels are all from Brit #1.
As always, click the pictures for a closer look.

Introductions.
All the introductions you need in two handy dandy captions.
Also, you'll notice Brit is climbing out of a dinosaur's mouth... I mean, I don't know what else to tell you.

Don't forget...
Brit may be invincible, but that doesn't mean his clothes can't be Snuggle-soft.
(I know that sentence has a double-negative in it, but I have no idea how else to say that.)

You wouldn't like him..
And you wouldn't like him when he's angry.

Not to mention, I think we can all enjoy a good Bill Bixby quote.

Now there's a t-shirt slogan!
Now there's a t-shirt slogan just waiting to happen!
How badly do you think Mark Millar wishes he'd written that line?
I'd bet real, real bad.

And if that wasn't convincing enough,
Newsarama has the entire first issue up for you to read at your leisure.
The first issue is available in finer comic shops everywhere and the second issue came out today.
So there you have it.
Go buy Brit!

UPDATE : I made a Brit icon.
For absolutely no reason.
I made a Brit icon.

Give your soul to us..

It's kinda Starro-esque.
It's kinda Starro-esque.
This is what happens when I draw something without thinking too hard about what it's actually supposed to look like.

I have a mini-comic to finish, but after that or in addition to it, I have a big undertaking I've been thinking about doing for a long time that I think I'm going to have to finally start. I think my hand may be forced.

And give away absolutely nothing..

Thor #3 Page 15
Thor #3.
Page 15.
Or as I like to call it, "The Best Page Marvel Comics has published in a Long Time."

This page is following Iron Man finally getting his ass very throroughly kicked.
I could just post awesomeness from this issue for the rest of the week.

Who's here?

I was out way too late last night drinking gin and singing karaoke with some of my fellow Legionnaires.
I got like two hours of sleep before I had to drag my ass to work, head still slightly swimmy with alcohols.
I feel not so great.
But I will push on, for you, and update.

And now for what I'd like to call, "A Series of Images Illustrating Why You Should Be Buying Invincible".

Invincible_45_cvr
The following panels are all from Invincible #45.
As always, click the pictures for a closer look.

Nolan's growing as a person. I mean, seriously, look at this guy's character arc from issue one to now. From Superman archetype to murderer to traitor to planetary savior to deserter to prisoner.. and that's leaving out a lot and doing what I did mention no justice whatsoever.

Invincible_45_crap
Allen the Alien is one of the most likeable characters in comics. Ever.

Invincible_45_possum
Look at him playing possum!

And most importantly..
Invincible_45_grammar
Inter-species bred, super-powered, purple alien children in this comic use correct grammar.

Know what else is incredibly impressive?
None of these images featured the star of the comic.
Robert Kirkman has created a wealth of supporting and secondary characters and then fleshed them out so deftly that this book could easily be Mark Grayson-less for months without losing any momentum.
Well, that's what I think at least.

UPDATE : I forgot to mention that none of this book's greatness would be possible if not for how well Mr. Ryan Ottley draws the thing month in and month out. The guy does big time comic action, unbelieveably brutal violence, humor, tender emotional moments, and all points between in equal levels of absolute awesomeness.

So there you have it.
Go buy Invincible!
