The greatest thing in the world..

In my last post I told you that you needed to read that comic as it would play heavily into this post, and honestly, the rest of your life.
I hope you have done so and adequately prepared yourself.
When I read that comic I realized that the Knight's dialogue in the second panel was the exact sentence I hear Curt say before every photograph of him ever taken.

I immediately set out to find a photo of Curt on which to place the appropriate word balloons.
I thought this would be a fun way to gently poke fun at one of the best individuals I have ever known as well as doing my own quasi-mash-up-type thing.

So, before I get to the rest of the story, let me share with you the first picture of Curt I came across..

Hilarious, right?
It works so well, and it was just random that this was the first picture of him I came across.

Here's where shit gets interesting though.. and when I say "interesting", I mean to say, better than anything ever.

As I was quickly searching for a photo of Curt, I found a photo not of Curt first.

I found this photo..


It was then that I realized I had inadvertantly stumbled upon the funniest and greatest thing I had ever beheld.





I don't know why, but for some reason even though the dialogue never changes, seeing it on different pictures and imagining that the person or character in said image is saying it as they are doing whatever they are doing just keeps being hilarious to me.

I have made HUNDREDS of these since Tuesday and they all make me laugh.
I'm not even joking.
I am being so sincere.



That's enough to give you the idea, but there are a lot more to come, and they are all hilarious to me, and I have to assume they will be to you as well.
It is my hope that you will all tell your friends and join me in making many more of your own.

What kind of one way street is that?

So Marvel's burying Captain America in Arlington in tomorrow's issue of Fallen Son : The Death of Captain America, and for some reason all of the news outlets are covering it like it's real news.
I got them covering him being killed, but isn't a burial in a cemetary pretty much what happens next?
I dunno.
All of this to post this quote from the good Captain..

So, I know I'm late, but here's my quick reviews of some of last week's comics.


Flash v.4 #13 - Winner of the "Worst comic I've read since the last issue of All Star Batman" award. This issue, as was the case with the 12 issues before it, stars a character DC tells us is "Bart Allen", but who is not Bart Allen by any stretch of the imagination. I have every issue of Impulse and Young Justice, I know what I'm talking about. This issue differs from the previous 12 though, because they kill this character they claim is "Bart". This would have really upset me if the character that died was the Bart Allen we've known for all those years prior to Infinite Crisis (aka "Psshh! Man, fuck Young Justice!" as Mr. Didio calls it).
By amazing coincidence, this happens at the same time that the Justice League of America and the Justice Society of America and the Legion of Super-Heroes of America are over in JLA #10 bringing back Wally West.
I'm more than happy to have Wally back, but that's because he never should have been taken away from us in the first place.


Justice League of America #10 -
Your first assignment for Clusterfuck 101 : Write an issue of JLA.
Due date : Whenever you get around to it.
Extra credit : Get Michael Turner to create another artistic abomination for the cover.


Countdown 45 - With a cover like that you'd think some really awesome stuff happens in this issue.
You'd be wrong.


Captain America #27 - Who knew Bucky was going to grow up to be such a badass? Godspeed on your mission to kill Tony Stark since the big, bad, scary, super-angry, Green King version of the Hulk couldn't get the job done.
Also, Buck, nice job on nailing Black Widow. All the better if it was while she was involved with Tony.


Incredible Hulk #107 - This ish was definitely a better read than the first issue of World War Hulk #1, and I'm really glad to see Marvel show that there would be people on the Hulk's side.


Iron Man #19 - I just liked this cover.


Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four #3 - I think there were 4 or 5 books with Spider-Man in them last week, and this was the only one you should bother reading. There's really only one thing to complain about with this book, and it's the same complaint I have with Jeff Smith's Shazam, and that's that it's going to be over after only 4 issues.


The Spirit #7 - You don't really need me to tell you this is good, do you?

The millenial rhythms.

That's about as funny as anything gets. Ever.

So I got an e-mail earlier in the week that let me know that the Streets of Rage comic Curt and I did was enjoyed enough by the respective editors that it is going to be published.
This was very exciting news to the both of us.
Now we are faced with an even more daunting task.
We must write little bios for ourselves to appear along side the bios of the other creative type people in the back of the anthology.
If anyone wants to have a go at writing a humorous but mildly accurate 2 or 3 line bio of me I'd be more than willing to read it, and then use it without giving you any credit for your effort.
Doesn't that sound like a great deal and a lot of fun?
I thought so.

5 pages from this week's Civil War : The Confession that everyone needs to read.
I mean, needs to read if they want to see Captain America handcuffed and in a hi-tech superhero jail cell still make Iron Man look like a little bitch.. and that's putting it softly.
And get this... he does it with words.
Whoa.

The Justice League can't defeat the "Super-Villains" without your help.
Apparently literacy isn't one of the pre-requisites to join the League.


Now you too can stink like the Hulk or one of your other favorite super-characters.


You know, I met Captain America once, and as much as I love him, I don't think it'd be wise of me to want to smell like him.

So a Captain America meme has begun, and I for one must be a part of it.
This picture has been hanging around for a while. I very well might do another at some point.

I'm going to try to make a long story short.
I love Black Bolt.
Also, he's my dad's favorite comic character, which is pretty cool.
I was looking for an awesome picture of Black Bolt on the internet.
I just realized because I'm not telling you why I was looking for it, this story isn't very long at all.
So I found quite a few great pictures.

And, of course, since it's all over the national news and everything, I have to mention Marvel's bullshit PR stunt of "killing" CAPTAIN GODDAMN AMERICA!
I mean, we all know he's coming back eventually (and I mean, Steve Rogers, not just someone in the Cap costume), but until that happens, I'm boycotting all Marvel comics.

...with the exception of Runaways, collections of really old stuff, and comics that have absolutely nothing to do with current continuity.

You hear that, Marvel?!
Boycott! BOYCOTT, I SAY!
(PS I continue to hate Joe Quesada.)

Anyway, Wizard has a nice recap of some classic Cap highlights that's a fun little trip down memory lane. Especially exciting to me was the fact that the first Captain America story I ever remember reading, Blood on the Moors, is mentioned. Cap and Union Jack versus Baron Blood! Comics don't get much better than that. I swear I'm going to try and draw Baron Blood tonight.

On the other hand..

So, if I'd waited a day to post that Ed McGuinness picture of Captain America, I could have put it up to coincide with this link to 2 Guys Buying Comics doing another great Better Know a Hero.
Since I didn't do that, you'll have to settle for this sketch of Cap I did on the back of an envelope I mailed to my mom.

As much as I hate that Ed McGuinness is Marvel exclusive now, I'm really glad that I'm getting to see him do awesome covers like this.

Are we all pretty sure The Punisher is going to be the new Captain America?
The 5 o'clock shadow on this picture really just sinks it for me.
Maybe I'm being stupid and taking the bait.
