Happy New Year's Eve, kids!

WAHOO!
Take that music industry bastards!
While I'm sure they'll find some new way to screw us over in the long run, this is a major blow to their desire to sue file-swappers.

What NOT to do during Return of the King.

The 10 Dumbest Quotes of 2003... according to this one guy on this one website.

While this guy makes his list of the Top 10 Best DVD releases of 2003... it's a pretty good list to be honest.

And yet another fellow offers up his choices for the Top 10 Best Albums of 2003... I don't particularly agree with it, though there are several good albums on it.

For those of you who have seen this before (and I'm sure a lot of you have), I'd just like to point out that it took them 606 takes to get it right.

Another Van Hagar reunion rumor surfaces.

Did you guys know they're making a movie called "The Muppet Wizard of Oz"?
Well, they are.
Kermit as Scarecrow, Fozzy as the Cowardly Lion, Gonzo as the Tinman, Miss Piggy as both the Wicked Witch and Glenda, and possibly Natalie Portman as Dorothy.

This is neat if you plan on seeing Return of the King more than once.

Mega Man Mania.

The 8 Biggest Tech Flops Ever.

Bad news for those of us looking forward to seeing Seinfeld on DVD?

How about a preview of Fantastic Four #509?

For those of you that are fans of Kevin Smith and the Clerks animated series, you should go have a look at this immediately... or if you're more of a Dogma fan, have a look at this.

Rumor has it that Peter Jackson's "home cut" of Return of the King that should be hitting a DVD near you some time next year will be over 5 hours long.
I anticipate it greatly.

Speaking of things I anticipate greatly, why not have a look at this trailer?

For everyone who's excited about Final Fantasy XI.

More Halloween Safety Tips..
18. Beware of strangers bearing strange tools. For example: chainsaws, nail guns, hedge trimmers, electric carving knives, combines, lawnmowers, butane torches, soldering irons, band saws or any devices made from deceased companions.

19. If you find that your house is built upon a cemetery, now is the time to move in with the in-laws. (It's a toss-up. We know.) This also applies to houses that had previous inhabitants who went mad, committed suicide, died in some horrible fashion, OR had inhabitants who performed satanic practices in your house.

20. (And perhaps the most important..) Always get out as soon as the scary music starts playing.

Pumpkin Simulator 2003!
It's honestly, too much fun.

More Halloween Safety Tips..
15. If your companions suddenly begin to exhibit uncharacteristic behavior such as hissing, fascination for blood, glowing eyes, increasing hairiness, and so on, kill them off immediately. You'll thank yourself later.

16. Stay away from certain geographical locations, some of which are listed here: Amityville, Elm Street, Transylvania, Nilbog (you're already in trouble if you recognize this one), anywhere in Texas where chainsaws are sold, the Bermuda Triangle, or any small town in Maine. Also, California and Ohio are good spots to avoid this and every other time of year. I mean, the answer's in the question.

17. If your car runs out of gas at night on a lonely road, do not go to the nearby deserted-looking house to phone for help. If you think that it is strange you ran out of gas because you thought you had most of a tank, shoot yourself instead. You are going to die anyway and most likely be eaten.

More Halloween Safety Tips...
11. Do not take ANYTHING from the dead.

12. If you find a town which looks deserted, there's probably a good reason for it. Don't stop and look around.

13. Don't fool with recombinant DNA technology unless you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing.

14. If you're running from the monster, expect to trip or fall down at least twice, more if you are of the female persuasion. Also note that, despite the fact that you are running and the monster is merely shambling along, it's still moving fast enough to catch up with you.

I wouldn't be surprised if someday some fishermen caught a big shark and cut it open, and there inside was a whole person. Then they cut the person open, and in him is a little baby shark. And in the baby shark there isn't a person, because it would be too small. But there's a little doll or something, like a Johnny Combat little toy guy---something like that.

If you haven't already, for the love of all you hold dear, go out and buy the CD Permission to Land by The Darkness.

How'd you like to get a look at some early preview type stuff for Pixar's The Incredibles?
I thought you might.
Also, (as though I needed more incentive to go see this flick) I just learned Jason Lee is going to be part of the vocal cast for what is sure to be my favorite Pixar movie ever.
And may I add that in the two seconds he appears in this little preview, he was fantastical.

You liked Pirates of the Caribbean.
We all know you did.
We all know we liked it as well.
We all liked it a lot.
This is good news... if you were hoping for more.

Someone had a good idea, to make toys of the classis Universal Monsters. But they decided to release them in January/February of 2004, instead of ... oh, I don't know, OCTOBER!

A few Halloween Safety Tips..
1) When it appears that you have killed the monster, NEVER check to see if it's really dead.

2) Never read a book of demon summoning aloud, even just for kicks.

3) Do not search the basement, especially if the power has gone out.

War Horse
You'd turn into a War Horse. Strong, brave and
loyal like a war horse you are protective of
family and friends and generally polite and
freindly to people you dont know or just met.
However your attitude can change quickly if
your family or friends are threatened in anyway
and you quickly fight it off. However because
of your protective attitude you can oftern find
yourself getting angry and interfering if you
see anyone being threatened and cant defend
themselves.

The only movie I'm looking more forward to seeing than this is Return of the King.
That should tell you that I'm looking forward to seeing this quite a bit.

The Top 11 Draculas.

This officially scared the crap out of me.

Ash (not the band) may be making a triumphant return to the big screen!

This isn't terribly funny, but it's worth checking out for the pictures alone.

As though I'm not going to link to an article called "Nintendo Overdose : Lessons in Life, Love, and the English Language."

Mario is too much pimp.

If there ever comes a time where this doesn't make me laugh... I just hope I don't have to come up with an end to that sentence.

Someone finally has the answer : Why Star Trek sucks.

The official site for Mario Kart Double Dash! is now up and running. It's worth checking out just for the wallpapers.

Speaking of Mario.. why not check out Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom Part 1.
Someone put a lot of time and effort into making this, and it shows... big time.

The full scoop on Sony's new PSX.. complete with shiny pictures!

This spoke directly to the kid in me, and made me smile.
Of course, it's not like you have to talk too loud to get to him as he's pretty near the surface at all times.

I'm sure I'm not the only one excited about QT's Kill Bill Vol. 1 am I?
News on the flick's anime sequence(s).

We won't see this on TV... but we should.
Because it's funny.

For those of you stuck at work, or just looking to kill some time, I've found the game Rocket Mania to be quite enjoyable. However, if you are at work, I'd recommend cutting the sound down.

I've always thought Dr. Who was one of the dorkiest shows ever, but if this news is true they may make a fan of me yet. The UK's SUN newspaper is reporting that Eddie Izzard is going to play the new Dr. Who when the BBC debuts the new version of the series later this year.

Check out these pictures that were taken by the Hubble Space Telescope of actual space things... in space!
They are indeed awesome... by the true definition of the word.

Since we're officially in October, I figured now was as good a time as any for everyone to check out all of these great old Halloween costumes!
By far the scariest costume I've ever seen.

Tickets for the all day showing of all three Lord of the Rings movies go on sale October 9th at select theaters nationwide.
Thankfully, for once, Memphis is not being passed up, so I'll be there!
Exciting, yeh?

Is it just me or is this shirt great?

This is the flyer that The Caravan made up for the show tonight.
It looks pretty cool, but I have no idea why we've been billed as "The Big Collapse" as opposed to just "The Collapse."
Oh, well.
Hope to see you there.

Science seems to be able to find an answer to most anything these days. This article isn't particularly exciting, but I found it very informative and interesting.
It's about the studies that have and are being done showing the distinct differences in the male and female brain. It also goes into detail explaining why we (men and women) react differently to different situations. The ramifications for relationships are fairly obvious to see... so if you're in a relationship, or are planning on being in one, I'd suggest giving it a read.

The Kids in the Hall have an official site now. I suggest you visit it, and help shape the future of KITH DVD releases... as I have done.

No seriously.. they do.

Look for Jason vs. Freddy to drop on DVD on January 13.

Oh, by the way, when I said the trailer for The Matrix Revolutions looks pretty awesome, I figured that it would go without saying that I meant all the parts except those featuring the incredibly poorly CGI'd mech things that the forces of Zion were piloting.
Those parts are just embarrassing.

Get a load of Mr. Updated-His-Website..
You'll be glad you did.

There's been a lot of rumors and such circling about a new Superman movie as of late, now that Jon Peters (aka: the worst producer EVER) has been fired.
Names are being tossed about such as M. Night Shyamalan.
Care to read more?

While we're on the subject of people who tried to ruin franchises (Jon Peters, not M. Night), Joel Schumacher is apparently working on not only special edition DVDs of his Bat-attrocities, but also a sequel to The Lost Boys.
I shudder to think.

And while we're talking about sequels, word has it that Tim Burton is planning on directing a sequel to Planet of the Apes in late 2004.

Dimension Films has said that the rumors of them asking John Carpenter to do a remake of Halloween are completely untrue.
Dah well.. don't forget to pick up They Live! on DVD this Tuesday.

Corey got the best battle cry BY FAR.

Picture of the day.. babies are cute.

The official Kill Bill site is now up and running. I'm very excited about this movie.

This seemed like a story Party Sam might post, but I guess I beat him to it, so I'll post it in his honor.

So, I said all that to say all this.. I hope you enjoy the new photo album.

For those of you that don't know, today is my birthday.
My 23rd birthday as a matter of fact.
By some strange cosmic coincidence, Gabe over at Penny Arcade decided to speak on the subject of birthdays today...
"The fact of the matter is I get very excited about my birthday. It's not even all the fabulous presents I expect to receive from my closest friends, although that will be nice. I get excited for the inevitable birthday party. So many of my friends tend to downplay their birthdays and I can't understand why. They might get a few friends together and go out to dinner someplace nice or whatever but that's about it. It seems like after 21 no one is interested in really celebrating on their B-day. I like birthday parties. I like it when all my friends come over and play videogames. Sure that's what we do every Thursday anyway but on my Birthday there will be cake and cake just makes thing better. Everyone gets one special day a year, a day when everyone gets together to party and celebrate simply because you're still around. I say take your special day and milk it for everything it's worth. This September 25th I'll be turning the big two six and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let that slip by with nothing but a dinner at Azteca to commemorate it."

This made me want to try and party a little harder tonight, more so than I had wanted to do before I read it.
Perhaps it will make you want to join me for this partying.

A picture I took of the Hulk..

As proof we did indeed play a show Saturday night at the Full Moon...

The new SAVES THE DAY album hits stores today. As you may or may not know I'm a fairly big fan of them, and while I knew it was coming out, I had no idea the first single off of it was so good. (I hadn't heard it yet, sue me.)
My thanks go to Corey for telling me how good it was.
You can go listen to it as well if you like.
It's a bit of a departure for them in comparison to their other albums, but it's choice either way.

I simply cannot say it enough.. the man is a genius.

Monday, September 15, 2003

For those of you that don't know me, I'm a huge fan of The Flash, but I'm not sure whether to be excited or not about this news. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best, as I'd like to be able to watch good shows about both Superman and The Flash on a weekly basis.

I'm also a pretty big fan of the Halloween franchise of films (even though they pretty much suck after the second one, and I refuse to see "Resurrection"), so when I hear that Dimension is trying to get John Carpenter to make a new version of the original Halloween it makes me think that perhaps this is news about which we could all be excited.
Or maybe it'll suck.
I also hear Carpenter is working on a remake of his film, The Fog.

In other horror news, FOX is working on a film described as "Black Hawk Down with werewolves" called Silver Strike. Apparently a team of soldiers is dipatched to deal with a situation only to find out that the people they're facing are werewolves. Fun, yeh?

Billions and billions of dollars are about to be spent on the construction of an elevator into space.. I swear I'm not making this up.

"I went walking by the dry cleaners at 3am and they had a sign on their door, 'Sorry, we're closed.' You don't have to be sorry, man. It is 3am and you are a dry cleaner. It would be ridiculous for me to expect you to be open. I'm not going to walk in at 10 and be like, 'Hey, I came by here at 3am and you f***ers were closed. Somebody owes me an apology.'"

I just found out that both John Ritter and Johnny Cash died today.
My weekend has officially been ruined.
If anyone needs me I'll be in my room listening to Johnny Cash albums.

For those of you who enjoy sharing files, but have no desire to be sued by the incorporated asses collectively known as the RIAA.
Or if you just like the idea of people not being able to find out who you are, here's another even.
And yet another.

The news has already started spreading like the proverbial wildfire, but in case you haven't heard, Christian Bale has officially been signed to play Batman in the Christopher Nolan helmed, Batman: Year One.
If you recall, I made mention of him being one of the front-runners for the role last week.
I think we can all breathe a little easier now.

Opus returns!

Miramax has released the first trailer for Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill: Vol. 1. Go watch it already.

There's a new Simpsons game coming out the day before my birthday... here are some lovely pictures from it.

I think every single one of you needs to watch this.
Then share it with someone else.
My thanks go to Sam for hipping me to this particular link.

Sometimes Bryan Hitch shows off.

Check out the first story here.

This is the kind of girl I hope to marry.

I like Family Guy.
Chances are, you like it as well.
This news should make you happy.

I'm learning that this guy is a genius.

I don't know how many of you are actually comic fans, but I'm told this particular comic is going to be part one of some kind of "big deal" story.
See what you think.

If anyone is looking for something to get me for my birthday, I'd like this very much, and this website seems to be the only place you can purchase it.

Rhino Entertainment is giving you and I the chance to help decide what their next classic animation releases will be.
Go take the survey.
As far as I could tell, you can choose more than one if you like.

Some good news for the Gamecube?

Friday, September 05, 2003

All I can say is I'd love to buy this shirt.

I'm sure you all have questions for him, so go ahead, Ask Dolphin Boy.

Oh, and apparently clouds weigh more than elephants... a lot of elephants.

Music news I'm certainly glad to hear, Triumph, the insult comic dog, will be releasing his first CD on October 7th. The first run of the album will also include a bonus DVD. Look for guest appearances on the album and DVD from Adam Sandler, Conan O'Brien, Jack Black, and others.

SPAAAAAAAAAACE VIIRUSSSESSSSSS!

Thursday, September 04, 2003

If you don't know who Mike Nelson is, you probably aren't one of my friends, but if you do, then I'm 100% certain you will be absolutely delighted to watch this.
As a matter of fact, even if you don't know who he is, you should watch and enjoy it.

A link just for Party Sam.

And now, a little something for Jason.

For those of you that give a damn, Buffy is set to return in a guest appearance(s) on that Angel show.

I didn't even know they were working on Predator 3, but sure enough a script is being written as we speak. This film would (as you might expect) feature at least one Predator, but will also be centered around the character of "Dutch" originally played by Arnold Schwarznegger in the first film.
However, with Arnold now running for governor he won't be working on the film.
So who's up to replace him? None other than The Rock.
This is the second Arnold property that The Rock's been associated with, as Arnold was quoted as saying he'd want The Rock to play his son in the in development "King Conan/Conan: Crown of Iron" flick.

While I'm on the subject of franchises, the next Batman flick is scheduled to begin filming in February with Christopher Nolan (Memento, Insomnia) directing. Apparently, Nolan is going to be holding a huge casting call for all of the young Hollywood types over the next few days to decide who the next Batman will be.
Since this film is set to be a "Year One" story detailing how Bruce Wayne becomes Batman, expect a much younger actor than previous Bat-films.
Jake Gyllenhall, Christian Bale, Joshua Jackson, Cillian Murphy are among those on Nolan's list of candidates. Bale seems like perfect casting to me, but I'm not in charge of these things. I'm the guy who was all for Jude Law playing Superman in the Batman vs Superman flick.

Wednesday, September 03, 2003

You can check out Andrew WK's new video for "Never Let Down" here.
It's fairly absurd, but I don't think any of us would really expect any less from AWK.
You can also vote for MTV to play the video during the fifteen minutes a week that they play videos.
Don't forget that The Slammer's new album "The Wolf" hits stores next Tuesday.

I forgot to mention this last week when it happened, but Angry Edward has finally updated his site.
You should go check it out.

It's nice to finally hear some news from the Weezer camp. This also appears to be good to very good news.

There's a game coming out in Japan called Monster Hunter.

Rumor has it that Nintendo is planning on packaging Mario Kart: Double Dash with an extra disc containing a Gamecube version of Mario Kart 64!
Either way, I think Double Dash looks pretty terrific. It's scheduled to start hitting stores on November 18.

Japan gets all kinds of neat crap we'll never see here, but I may have to endeavor to import this gizmo.

Speaking of Japan, it looks as though scientists there are imploring the government to fund a project that would make Astro Boy (aka Tetsuwan Atom) a reality!
I swear I'm not making this up!

That's what Rhapsody told me anyway.

Scientists speculate that if the Romans had not destroyed the great libraries of ancient Egypt when they conquered the area, that civilization would have advanced to the point of the Industrial Revolution 2,500 years sooner!

"The new comic strip concerns the N-Gage Special Forces, a crack group of liars and miscreants whose job it is to spread lies about the N-Gage. When I say lies, I mean things like telling people that it is good or that someone should buy one with money. I wince when I look at it. I'm very interested in seeing what becomes of this Velvet Revolver band, as "Set Me Free" was spectacular.

As I do from time to time, I get a kick to unleash a mess of video game news on you people all at once.
I've chosen to do this yet again today...
The new Nintendo system won't be coming out in 2005?
Also, Nintendo of America has announced the price of the Gamecube will drop to $99 in September.

The first poster for Quentin Tarantino's fourth film, Kill Bill, has just surfaced.

News on a digital recasting of Kevin Smith's Jersey Girl.

Since I hooked you up with some Star Wars spoliers a few days ago, how about some spoilers from The Matrix Revolutions?

Monday, August 18, 2003

New Kevin Smith news.. it's news... that's new.
Although, it's not necessarily good news as it's rather "Lee-less."

It seems someone else, Philip Levens (a writer on the WB's hit Smallville), is going to be taking a stab at making a "good" script for a Wonder Woman flick.

If you don't want to have some of Star Wars Episode 3 ruined for you, then you should stay away from here.

Can you believe it's already been 10 years since we all started enjoying a nightly dose of Conan.

Saturday, August 16, 2003

How'd you like to hear the new Travis single?

Friday, August 15, 2003

For those of you interested in SpongeBob Squarepants (and honestly, if you're not, you probably shouldn't be here..), Paramount has released the specs for the Season 1 DVD Box Set.

And while we're on the subject of shows on Nickelodeon that don't suck, my tied for favorite show on that network, The Fairly Oddparents, will be getting it's own feature film.
I imagine this film will be released between the release of a crappy Rugrats movie and an even crappier Rugrats movie.

The only time I've seen ping pong look this cool was watching Corey and Danny play... but that's because watching them play was a lot like this.

Tuesday, August 12, 2003

Apparently, Johnny Depp is lobbying to portray Ozzy Osbourne in the film based on his life that is currently in production at MTV/Paramount.
Should he get the part, filming would begin after he plays Willy Wonka in Tim Burton's new adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic tale.

For those of you who haven't seen the new Mallrats toys yet...

Batman-on-Film is reporting that Warner Bros. is planning on releasing new special, deluxe, collector's edition DVDs of Batman and Batman Returns by the end of the year!
Tim Burton is supposedly going to be recording commentaries for the films as soon as he finishes filming his new flick.

Speaking of DVDs, Rhino will release G.I. Joe Season 1 Part 1 in October.
Look for Part 2 in January 2004.

Nick Park has announced that he will begin production on the Wallace and Gromit full length feature film this September!
Don't get too excited too soon though, because it won't be hitting theaters until sometime in 2005.

If it catches your fancy, you can check out a 7 page preview of Marvel's upcoming Supreme Power series.
Not like my opinion counts for much, but I think it's going to be good to very good.

I saw AM Radio last night at the New Daisy!
Their set was under an hour, but I was thoroughly pleased with the show.
Kevin Ridell's vocals sounded so spot on that someone (to be specific, Jack) said he couldn't tell if he was really singing or if they were just playing the vocals from the CD.
Bit of an exaggeration, since you could tell he was really singing, but you get the idea.. I knew you would.
Even better than getting to see them though, was the fact that I got to hang out with Kevin before and after their set, as well as talk to two other members of the band.
They were all super cool.
Kevin gave me his e-mail address and told me to e-mail him.
Adam remarked that I'm becoming buddies with all of my heroes.
That made me laugh, and it also made me very happy to be me.
More on the whole thing later.

Come on now.. the hell?!

Picture of the Day.

Things have been a little hectic and/or chaotic (take your pick) the last few days, so I apologize for the lack of new information.
I'll try to get things back under control.

I told Jason that I was going to e-mail this link to him, but I lost the little piece of paper that had his e-mail address on it.. so here's the link.

Even though the guy starts getting one of the character's name mixed up half way through, this is still a pretty interesting read.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to my favorite bass player, Adam!

"Hey Big Bird! Time to play count the shells, Suck-a-duck!"

As you know (or should know by now), I'm interested in all things "zombie," and while I'll more than likely never own or even play this, I thought I'd share it with you anyway.

While I'm on the subject of games, I'm well aware there are any number of newly christened pirate lovers after that "Pretties of the Carribean" movie, so why don't you all go check this out.
Perhaps you'll love it.

For the anime fans, this sounds like a pretty neat idea.

The best reason yet to own an Xbox (or Xbob as I prefer to call them) has broken sales records in just four days.

And of course, I'm always pleased to hear any kind of Godzilla news.

Also, it wouldn't be wise to bet that I'm not going to buy this... because I am.
I'm going to buy the hell out of it.
You're going to watch me buy the hell out of it.

My not completely up-to-date DVD collection... in case Jason wants to peruse it.

Picture of the Day.. how cute is that?
