It's less than two weeks until Halloween!
(I hope everyone noticed the smiling alien robot I'm holding.)

Since Batman Begins comes out on DVD today (2 disc special edition on the cheap at Amazondotcom), I thought this would be a fun/funny thing to link you to.. though if you haven't seen American Psycho it won't make a lick of sense. So yeah, it's safe to avoid it if you haven't seen that flick.

"So he's Bizarro Jerry."
"Bizarro Jerry?"
"Yeah, like Bizarro Superman, Superman's exact opposite, who lives in the backwards Bizarro world. Up is down, down is up, he says hello when he leaves, goodbye when he arrives."
"Shouldn't he say badbye? Isn't that the opposite of goodbye?"
"No, it's still goodbye."
"Does he live underwater?"
"No."
"Is he black?"
"Look, just forget the whole thing."

Anyone else ready to see that new Harry Potter flick? I just saw the latest international trailer for it, and it looks incredible. I sincerely hope that these movies stay profitable enough for all of the books to get made. Into movies, I mean... because there's no way I'm actually going to read them all.

If you didn't already know TiVo is fantastically magical.

The Family Guy movie lands on DVD this Tuesday, so if you're a fan be sure to keep an eye out for it... though chances are, if you're a fan you already knew that.

Well, it's official now. The 2005 Voodoo Music Fest is going to be held here in Memphis. Have a look at the line up. I don't expect this to lead to better things for Memphis in the future, because I'm sure it will be a mess and the bands as well as the promoters, etc. will be very anxious to get out of town once it's over.

It looks like October 18 is going to be an even bigger day for DVDs as The Legend of Zelda 3-Disc set also hits stores that day.

Hell, while we're at it, why don't you go ahead and watch X-Men : Death Becomes Them and then X-Men : Dark Phoenix Rising.

Batman Begins is coming to DVD on October 18 along with Batman : The Motion Picture Anthology 1989-1997.

So for those of you who don't already know, and might care, Maggie was in a really bad wreck yesterday.
Her hip/pelvis is broken in 3 places, she's got broken ribs, kidney and spleen lacerations, stitches in her arm and face. Thankfully, she doesn't have any brain or spinal damage.
What's worse though is that she doesn't have any medical or auto insurance.
She's not going to be able to walk again or leave the hospital possibly for months, which means she's not going to be able to work.
As you can imagine her medical bills are going to be very high.
Also, the people that hit her (with their SUV) may try to sue her.
She's looking at some serious financial peril.

So, I'm giving you heads up now that I'm going to be trying to put together a benefit show (or shows) to try to help her out with these bills.
This just happened yesterday, so I haven't started getting into the logisitcs of it all yet, but I have every intention of making it happen.
If you would like to be involved or think you could help, please let me know.

Warner Bros. have finally got the official site for the upcoming stop-motion fairy tale, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, up and running. Visit it here... I'm lead to believe there may even be downloads.

Yet another trailer for the Fantastic Four has made it's way to the interweb. Almost everything I've seen about this movie has filled me with a sense of dread (the casting of the core quartet withstanding, as I have nothing against any of them), but I think you all already know I'll be at the theater seeing it on the opening weekend... so I might as well keep the lines of communication open, right?

I'm not going to lie to you and say I'm not interested in owning M& M's Star Wars MPIRE merchandise.

From Reuters -
Among the North American records set by Revenge of the Sith were best one-day, two-day, three-day and four-day sales. It also managed to beat the five-day record. After opening just after midnight on Thursday, "Revenge of the Sith" earned $50 million during its first day, beating the $44.8 million tally for "Shrek 2" last year. The record-breaking streak continued into the second day ($83.8 million) and third day ($124.7 million). Its four-day haul of $158.5 million beat the old mark of $134.3 million set by 2003's "The Matrix Reloaded" -- as well as the five-day mark of $152.4 million set by 2004's "Spider-Man 2."

Don't know if I'd mentioned this before, but the Thundercats are coming to DVD on August 8, and you can have a look at the first set right here.

Don't forget that this Tuesday sees the release of The Adventures of Pete & Pete : Season One on DVD.

Time (the magazine) has gotten the real (or as real as can be hoped for) scoop on what's going on with Dave Chappelle. He's down in South Africa, but he's not in a mental institution, and you can read the interview here.

For those that are interested that Carnivale show on HBO has been cancelled.

In news I was interested to hear Stephen Chow says he may make a sequel to Kung Fu Hustle... which if you haven't seen yet, you really should.

Speaking of sequels, this sounds both exciting and makes me nervous, but there's also going to be a follow-up to The Dark Crystal. It's going to be called The Power of the Dark Crystal. Puppets and CGI. Animated series after the movie. Computer and video games as tie-ins.

Oh! I almost forgot. Also speaking of sequels, did you kids know they're making The Transporter 2? Well, they are. I liked the first one enough that I'd be willing to actually see this one in the theaters. Have a look at the poster.

Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz are making a western called Bandidas.

Tommy Lee Jones is directing and starring in a movie written by Dwight Yoakam. I kid you not.

Just so there's no confusion, that panel with the Joker from a Batman comic back in the '50s has not been doctored in any way.
For those who are unfamiliar with the term, a boner used to mean a goof up or laughable mistake.
If someone pulled a boner, that meant that they had goofed up or messed up.

Surely I'm not the only one who thought that was hilarious.

Wednesday, April 27, 2005

Hey kids.
So Saturday night is Mauxfaux's big show at the Young Avenue Deli.
The show starts at 8 I think, and we play at 10:30PM on the dot.
There will be 7 other bands playing that night as well.
I'm nervous with the butterflies in my stomach just trying to write this... so I hope you actually read it.
The tickets for this show are $10 if you want to get one from me before the show or $18 at the door.
I know a lot of you are probably thinking about or already maybe planning on going to MusicFest, but I sincerely hope you'll consider coming to see us if never again, this one night.
It's a voting thing and we need as many people as possible there to vote for us, because if we don't advance to the next round it may be our last show.
Without getting into the details of it all, I'll just say that some people aren't happy with the current state of things and if someone leaves, I think that's the end of it.
I really wish that wasn't the case.
I wish our schedules could all be a lot easier to coordinate and we could get things back to the practicing twice a week days, but that doesn't look to be possible at the moment.
I've been really upset/sad/sick to my stomach pretty much constantly for the last five days or so over it.
I hate that we've wasted a name change, 3 drummers, and almost 3 years of hard work developing a following and building a chemistry and making our music mean something to at least some of you.
So yeah, I'm sorry this isn't coming out exactly like it should.
The point is, I'd be really grateful to any and all of you if you could make it to this one show.
If you need to get in touch with me about tickets or anything else or if you just want to say anything about the band, feel free to respond.

I sincerely hope that this Saturday is not our last show, because I love this band, and I love playing with the four other guys in this band.
If it is our last show though, I want you all to know that it's been a lot of fun and I hope you all know how much I've appreciated your time and support of Mauxfaux.

best.

The first shot of Brandon Routh as SUPERMAN.
From what I've heard, this may not end up being the final version they end up using, but if it is, it could be a lot worse. The "S" being so small is my only real complaint.
I think Routh looks the part... which is good to see.

That certainly looks like a good Clark Kent to me.

Monday, April 18, 2005

Todd McFarlane is going to be releasing a line of action figures based on runaway smash weirdo comedy, Napolean Dynamite.
Figures planned for the first release are Napolean, Pedro, and Kip.
I'm sure they'll sell like hotcakes... to many of the people reading this I'd bet.

Ray Park (Darth Maul) may be back as Toad in the third X-Men flick.

Speaking of X-People, Hugh Jackman may play a young Pa Kent in a flashback scene in the upcoming Superman Returns.
You can also go here to check out some of the first photos of Brandon Routh as Clark Kent. I'll be damned if that guy doesn't look like Christopher Reeve. Also, you should probably watch this and see what you think. If you're at all interested in the Superman flick, or (and this is a big "or") in the upcoming King Kong that Peter Jackson is making, you'll want to watch it. Seriously.

Certainly anyone who's a fan of Calvin & Hobbes (and there'd damn well better be a number of you reading this) will be interested in checking this out.
You're Christmas list just got one item longer.

Who wouldn't like a plush Bruce Campbell?
More info here..

The Ren & Stimpy Show : Season 3 & A Half-ish will be released on DVD on June 28, 2005. Thought some of you might be interested in keeping your calendar's updated.

A release I've been looking forward to for a long time, the first season of Tales From the Crypt will be available on July 12.

This was funny enough that I felt like sharing it with the lot of you.
Enjoy.

Any He-Fans out there?
If so have a look at what's coming up for your favorite universe masters.

Speaking of the Fantastic Four, have a look at what's coming out in time to coincide with the flick.

Monday, April 11, 2005

I don't hate this new trailer for this summer's upcoming Fantastic Four flick.
I don't love it either, but it makes me a little more excited about seeing it... which, in all fairness, I was going to do no matter what.

Saturday, April 09, 2005

Mauxfaux is playing at the Stage Stop in rockin' Raleigh tonight at 10PM.
If any of you know where that is, I hope you can come check it out.
Also, if any of you know where that is, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know, because I have no idea.

A collection of comic to screen comparisons from Sin City. Spoilers in abundance though, so I'd recommend avoiding it if you haven't seen the flick or read the comics yet.

A listing (complete with links) of some of the many April Fool's jokes pulled all around the world this year.

This was probably my favorite April Fool's thing this year.

Sin City.
Wow.

For the Home Movies fans.

Hi.
Remember me?
I'm sorry I've been gone for so long.
That's life though.
On to the reason you're here.

If you haven't already bought the Star Wars : Clone Wars Volume 1 DVD, you need to go out and do so right now!
Then you need to follow this link and watch Chapters 21-25.... because they are amazing.

If you'd like to hear the new Weezer tune, you have Dani to thank for this hook-up.
It's not great, but I don't dislike it either. It just seems kinda throwaway.

More Superman : The Animated Series DVD season sets are on the way in anticipation of the upcoming feature film. Season 2 should drop around Christmas time with Season 3 following in the summer of 2006 to coincide with the movie's release.

Star Wars : Clone Wars Vol. 1 is available at DVD retailers nationwide tomorrow. Best Buy has it for $12.99, and that's the lowest I saw it anywhere. If you know of somewhere that has it cheaper, please feel free to let me know.
Also, the second season of Clone Wars begins airing tonight on Cartoon Network. Clone Wars fills in the gap of what happens between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

We should see the release of the first season of The Muppet Show on DVD before the end of the year complete with a veritable cornucopia of extras. That's awfully exciting. I love the DVD times we're living in these days.

Billy Idol has a new album coming out tomorrow called Devil's Playground. I think it's at it's lowest advertised price at Target if you're interested in picking it up.

Speaking of Target, they've got the fifth season of The Simpsons on sale this week for only $29.99. That's a deal and a half.

Wednesday, March 16, 2005

Joss Whedon is officially writing and directing a Wonder Woman movie for Warner Bros. I wish him all the best.

Beast, Angel, and Gambit are all supposedly set to be in the third flick in the X-Men franchise.

Did you all know that Michael Mann is directing a feature film version of Miami Vice starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx? Well, he is.

QT's extended or Japanese version of Kill Bill will be hitting theaters before the end of the year.

Monday, March 14, 2005

If you are now, or have ever been a fan of video games, you should read this.

I found out something interesting about The Fun Shop over the weekend. Interesting, and exciting.

Rocko's Modern Life is on in the other room. That's also exciting.

Anyone who missed Population 1 on The Late Late Show can download the performance here for free in mp3 or video formats.

People, I implore you.. check this out.. if it's not hilarious I'll give you your money back.

Monday, March 07, 2005

We may see the new Weezer album (possibly called "Weezer Weezer") as soon as May 3rd.

80s favorite He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is coming to DVD starting May 2005 as a 10 episode "Best Of.." 2 Disc collection, to be followed by season sets later in the year.

Bob Odenkirk has Blurbs For Sale! Huzzah!

There's a place out there in cyberspace called, starspangledicecream.com.... I kid you not.

The Cuddly Menace... read on if you dare!

For those of you who know who he is, Michale Graves has a new album due sometime early this summer called Punk Rock is Dead.

Thursday, March 03, 2005

I didn't even know Spider-Man was in the Bible.

Wednesday, March 02, 2005

You know... it's been a while.
And, I don't know if you heard, but it's so easy.
One might even be heard to remark that one was "happy go lucky".

Look at all this DVD news....

Jim Lee's WildC.A.T.s is coming to DVD. I'm sure at least one or two of you remember the awful cartoon they made, right?

In DVD news that's worth a damn, the first two seasons of DANGER MOUSE are coming to DVD on May 31st!

Look for seasons 3,4, and 5 of The Ren & Stimpy Show to be released at some point before the end of the year. More info as it becomes available.

The second season of Samurai Jack will be released on May 24th.

Volume 1 of the classic stop-motion animated series Davey and Goliath will hit stores on June 7th.

And finally, the secnd season of Home Movies will arrive in a 3-disc set at a entertainment retailer near you on May 31st.

Well worth reading even if you don't care for comics.

Prayers get answered all the time.

Check out this 8-page preview of the sure to be great, Lex Luthor : Man of Steel.

Sunday, February 20, 2005

If you're at all interested in The Venture Bros. you'll want to have a look at this.

Some "look worthy" pictures from the US Toy Fair that was held over the weekend in New York:
JLA Gift Set
Batman : The Long Halloween
Sesame Street
Star Wars Episode III : Revenge of the Sith
Alex Ross' Justice League Series 2
Family Guy
The Warriors
Edward Scissorhands
Voltron

Anyone see that Constantine flick this weekend? It's based on the DC Comic Hellblazer, and I don't think the previews gave me any reason to not want to see it.. so I probably will.
Just curious as to what any of you thought. I hear it's getting decent reviews, and (though this is no indication of quality) it's making pretty good bank so far.

This was a good week for DVDs with the release of the 2 disc Director's Cut of Donnie Darko, the first season of The Greatest American Hero, and the special edition of Half Baked.
This week sees the release of the 2 disc special editions of Heat, I Heart Huckabees, and three Miyazaki classics (Porco Rosso, The Cat Returns, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind).
Feel free to stroll over here to have a more in depth look at all of this week's releases.

Since I mentioned Donnie Darko back there, why not take a look at this?

Did you know there's a rumor going around that Jennifer Garner may play She-Ra in the upcoming John Woo directed He-Man movie?

Have a look at Paris Hilton's phone book from her T-Mobile phone.

I sincerely hope that they put this Saturday Night Live : The First 5 Years special that's on right now out on DVD at some point in the near future. It's been both entertaining and informational... it's entermational!

Get a load of this great Valentine I made! CLICK HERE!

This was a picture of a robot that I was working on one night when my computer decided to crash.
It was the most excited I had been about anything I'd drawn in a long time.
I couldn't do anything to the computer but turn it off, but before I did, I took a picture of the screen with my camera.
This isn't nearly as cool as the real picture looked, but it was the best I could do.
I'm going to have a little moment of silence now for what I will always know as ... The Lost Robot.

I discovered I'm able to have comments on here now.. so feel free to leave one whenever you feel like it.
My best to you all.

This is beautiful and upsetting at the same time.
I recommend it for you all.

For the pirate fans.

You can't tell me that's not hilarious.
