I have a lot of faith..

The ol' blog has been experiencing something of a renaissance as of late and I have you (the people who are good enough to keep visiting and pushing that hit counter up) to thank for inspiring it.
It's a lot easier to try to put some effort into things when you feel like there are people out there interested in reading it, so I sincerely thank you.

If you can believe it (and I'm fully prepared to accept that you cannot), Curt has returned to the blogiverse. I thank him for returning to us.

And finally, I'd like to thank Mattel and The Four Horsemen for not ruining one of my favorite characters and changing their upcoming "Classic" Firestorm from awful to awesome.

Best of 2007 : New Avengers #34

Instead of trying to come up with some kind of comprehensive list, I thought I'd just take a moment or two here and there to talk about some of my favorite books or moments from 2007.

New Avengers #34
I've enlisted the help of everyone's favorite wall-crawler and current New Avenger, Spider-Man to help me talk about why this issue was one of the best of 2007.
(To help keep things straight Spidey's commentary will be italicized.)

So Spidey, what was so great about this issue?

Nothing?
Really?
Come on, Pete, what about when you confessed to being all Skrully?

Oh yeah. Heh. I guess that was pretty funny.
Why am I walking around with my mask off?

Or when we found out Luke and Jessica named their baby after Iron Fist? Wasn't that heartwarming and sweet? I mean, look at how happy Iron Fist is.
Yeah, I guess that was pretty nice.
Danny was pretty much bursting with pride.
Danny Partridge, I mean.
Of course.

Or what about when he and Dr. Strange were talking about their eventual replacements?
Haha! I'd forgotten about that.. they had a little moment, didn't they?
I've told both of them it could be a lot worse.
They could be replaced by a clone in a sleeveless sweatshirt?
Exactly.

Speaking of clothes, or a lack thereof, how about Hawkeye and Echo's shower scene?

Listen, bud, I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm a happily married man.
Yeah, about that..
What?
Nevermind.
Moving on, it was pretty nice when you guys finally came together as a team again.
I gotta say I did feel pretty inspired after that.

So, all in all, a pretty great issue, eh?
Hey waitaminit!
What?
You forgot the best part!
I did? Which part was that?
Allow me..
There you have it, folks!
New Avengers #34. One of the best comics of 2007.
Funny, heartwarming, inspiring genital mutilation for the whole family!
I'd like to give a very special thanks to the spectacular, the sensational, the amazing Spider-Man for his help.
Everybody gets one, kid.
I'll see the rest of you next time.

Get off the freeway..

I (via Blog@ (via Newsarama (via TimesOnline (via Ain't It Cool)))) have "discovered" some of the only reasons to watch Aw Hell Naw Legend.

This post was essentially an excuse to do three things :
1) Post that picture.
2) Use Jon Morris' hilarious Legend title.
3) Do the parentheses gag.

I wanna share it with you...

So, I find that how embarrassed I am about my blog is directly related to how cool or judgmental the person reading it is.

I made a chart.

Everything is said and done..

Collider.com has a "ton" of photos from UNDER THE INFLUENCE - A Tribute to Stan Lee.
This one was my favorite.

Not directly related, but apparently Spider-Man and Billy Joel have a lot more in common than I'd originally thought.

With a single sigh...

A guy in my office just said that Queen's best album was "the greatest hits CD with the red cover".
And people wonder why I want to explode sometimes.
Worst of all, this guy's a "musician" (in that he writes and plays music in a band).
To me, saying a band's best album is one of their "Greatest Hits" collections is like saying, "I sure am glad I voted for George W. Bush."

Update : In that it says you are an idiot.

I don't believe in Peter Pan..

I know you're all fully capable of hopping around all the comic blogs yourself, but I can't help but share things.

It's what I do here.
For the last 5+ years.
So when I see this exceptional condemnation of "One More Day", I have no choice but to share it with you.
That's just how it works.

Plus, I've got to tell you about something if I'm going to make it to 400 posts this year.

I'll also say that though I hated everything about OMD, the previews I've seen of the first issue of "Brand New Day" look great. That doesn't mean I'll buy them, but it also doesn't stop me from saying they look great.

I'll also say that no longer having access to Flickr at work has really made dealing with images a pain.

Searching for the reason..

You can rearrange the letters in "Chris Haley" into "Ash lyric, eh?"
That is awesome.

I guess it helps to know Ash is one of my top five favorite bands of all time.

It could be worse..

Fizzit has an outstanding 30 Second Recap of Aquaman : Sword of Atlantis.
Please go enjoy it.

If you must pretend..

'
crimestopperbatmanback
I got this today.
It's pretty awesome.

The figure is called "Crime Stopper Batman".
That is hilarious to me.
I may put him on my desk at work.

It's the girl in the front..

So 4 years and 6 issues of Mighty Avengers later (I'm estimating how long it's taken Frank Cho to finish these six issues), Bendis' ridiculous re-imagining of the "thought bubble" finally gives us two panels with insight into the characters' thoughts that were worth wasting all our time over.

Let us all thank Mr. Bendis.

Wow.
This must have been my slowest movie-going year ever.
This is headed somewhere, so naturally, there's more to come...

All day the radio's been playin' the same song..

So I saw Sweeney Todd over the weekend.
I liked it okay as I left the theater, but the further away from it I've gotten the more I like it.
I think the grammar, tense-wise, in that last sentence was all over the place, but what do you care, this is free.

Once I get access to better, less restricted internet I'll have some real, worthwhile content on the way.
I may have to breakdown and pay for the internet at home. Boooo!

You want antidote..

I'm still famous!
On the internets!
Say It Backwards has a whole post up just about little ol' me.
Wonders never cease.
My thanks, of course, to Thomas for the acknowledgment.

I tried to get back on the Werewolf vs Zombies ball last night, by drawing a new strip.. at a bar. As you can imagine, things didn't go very well.
I did manage a decent idea though, so I'll do it up for real soon.
