After all these years..

Are you fucking kidding me?

Boys don't cry..

You are not doing well at any subject and uh if you continue on this path, you will be in the fourth grade for the next four years.
Look what can be yours for the low, low price of $424.99!

He was over the worst of it...

Friendship is the sturdiest of all ships -- even though it sometimes springs a leak.
I have no idea if this is going to be any good, but I do know that I'm excited to see it and find out.

Something special...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another which states that this has already happened.

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive sneak peek of Final Crisis #1.

You are probably right..

Frank Miller's The Spirit is now coming out on Christmas Day this year instead of in January.

I walk along darkened corridors...

According to
YANP : As the story goes, Warner approaced DND about covering the song for possible use in the movie. They had two days to record the track and it made it all the way to the Wachowski brothers before being turned down. Now they’re releasing it exclusively on iTunes today.

Just forget the world...

Topless Robot (Thanks for the NSFW site name, guys!) brings us The 5 Best and Worst Comics Blatantly Designed To Sell Toys.

Until the day you die...

Speaking of video games, everyone needs to read The 7 Commandments All Video Games Should Obey at Cracked.com.

Remember the time..

In the course of working for places that sell video games together, Edward and I have come up with many an idea for a video game.
In an effort to catalog some of these ideas for the sake of posterity and so that they'll be a matter of public record I thought now was as good a time as any to put some of them here on the interweb.
(Edward, if you recall any of these ideas with a greater level of lucidity than I do, please let me know so that everyone can wallow in our opulence.)

Pretty Scenery : As best as I recall, the object of this game was to look at pretty scenery. The scenery could not be interacted with nor manipulated.

Foot Race : In this game you race. On foot. I can see this game playing out in more than one fashion. One would have you controlling the runner's movements with an analog stick or D-pad and the runner's speed with how quickly you could push a pre-designated button. Another iteration gives you absolutely no control over the racer. Instead, you would control things or characters surrounding the race, such as the person who hands the racer a cup of water.

Stop Watch : This game let's you control your very own virtual stop watch.

Jefferson Pang : I have no idea.

Lincoln Memorial : I'd have to assume our idea was that you'd visit the Lincoln Memorial.

Bicycle : Learn to ride a bicycle.

Chest Pains : This game had two featured gameplay options. One part was where next generation graphics would be employed to help one experience what it would be like to watch someone have chest pains. The other option was getting to be a vengeful god choosing who would receive the chest pains.

Step & Step : Step. Now, step again. Repeat. Repeat again. Now, repeat again.

I'm not addicted..

I almost forgot that tomorrow is
FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!
(AKA Sean's favorite day of the whole year!)

Also, for no reason, Mega Man!

It's never too late to drink..

Anyone seen it yet?
I'm looking forward to everyone's thoughts.

The good cause.

It's almost go time for the charity event I mentioned to you previously.
The first round of charity auctions go live starting this weekend.
I'm involved in a few and so are a ton of artists a million times better than me.
Full details are here.

You're gonna kill us all..

I was walking with a ghost.

He's the God of the modern world. People are doing more everyday, moving faster and I think the Flash can be their hero. I do think he's a superhero for now. - Grant Morrison via The New York Daily News (via Newsarama)

They're smokin' from shootin'...

Excuse me monster coming through. Coming through, how you doin'?

This one is better than the previous one.
I still think the CGI in this movie looks less realistic than the 2003 flick.
Why is that?
Update : Oh, wow, this makes two posts featuring CGI green guys in a row. Fantastic.

You were fantastic..

In those days spirits were brave, the stakes were high, men were real men, women were real women, and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri.

Look, I don't know if you like Star Wars or not, but free is free and Random House is offering a free Star Wars e-book and audiobook at this link.
Letting you know about these kinds of things is one of the services I try to provide.

Silly string ninja...

He felt that his whole life was some kind of dream and he sometimes wondered whose it was and whether they were enjoying it.
Anti-Venom.
That's right, Anti-Venom.
I don't know whether to love this or to be ashamed of it.

Tell me 'cause I'd like to know..

Many had seen it as a clinching proof that the whole of known creation had finally gone bananas.
I don't give a shit about Grand Theft Auto 4.

I feel like this series is kind of undeservedly popular. Which is to say that its popularity is not in reasonable correlation with its quality.
The Penny Arcade I posted yesterday was speaking to a part of my problem with the series, which is better sentencized by Tycho :
"We're always impressed by each world's livingness, but historically the story structure - the obvious thread that we can grip and pull ourselves along - is hung about the neck with frustrating, repetitive gameplay. We end up burning out on free roaming in a couple days, taking random missions or sitting in a parking lot listening to the radio."

Another part is that some of my friends and I had what essentially amounts to the exact same idea for a video game (we have a legal pad with pages and pages and pages of notes and sketches and such for this game we imagined) a number of years before the first GTA even came out. The shift in gameplay that came in GTA3 was more what our idea for a game resembled.
Look, all I'm trying to say is GTA3 was the game that really made this series what is today, and we had that idea waaaay before they'd even made the first game, which really bares no resemblance to the series today.
That's not really important though. I don't really hold any grudge on that, and to be honest, I don't really care I just wanted to get it off my chest.

Really, my biggest problem with the games is that I just don't like being a bad guy. I don't mind killing people in video games if they are the bad guys and I'm trying to save the world or something, but when it's just "Here drive around and shoot cops and steal people's cars" I'm just not interested, you know?
I don't mind it when they're monsters or aliens or terrible bad people trying to kill me (or Goombas), but just killing regular folk for no reason has never sounded like fun to me.
I've had people try to tell me that it's all in how you play it, but having sex with hookers to get my life-meter recharged and then killing the hooker and taking my money back sounds like something a psychopath would do.
One of the other things that bugs me is how angry people who like the series get when you tell them that you aren't interested in it. Especially if it's for the kind of reason I just talked about. I mean, red-in-the-face angry.
I think they think I'm saying they are psychopaths... and honestly, the way some of them react I might not be too far from the mark if I were to think that.

I'm not saying that though.

Curt asked me if I wanted to go to the midnight release at the GameStop near where we live last night, and I don't think he's a psychopath.

All I'm saying is it's not for me.
I'm sure there are aspects of the game I could enjoy. A friend let me ride around on a motorcycle in one of them for a few minutes once and that was fun up to when I crashed into a car and flew off the motorcycle. Then it was funny.

Really, all I want from video games is a game where I can be Superman that doesn't suck.
One where I feel like I am Superman.
If they could just make that, I'd be done with video games.
I'd buy that one, and then I wouldn't have to buy anymore.
I'd just play it.
Forever.

Then there's the solo...

Time affords us the ability to blame past errors on others while whole heartedly pronouncing our future successes.
Three companies are trying to make a plane for the government that can stay in the air for 5 years at a time.
Apparently this is one of the possible "planes".
I mean.. you explain it to me.

Summer's for the summer..

Fruit and berries on strange planets either make you live or make you die. Therefore the point at which to start toying with them is when you're going to die if you don't. That way you stay ahead. The secret to healthy hitchhiking is to eat junk food.

Just a little Flash sketch I did on a grocery list.

All I know is Penny Arcade is funny.

I still see the world...

I just tried this candy from somewhere in Asia that was apparently some kind of sweet & sour, quasi-gummy prune covered in sugar and super hot sauce.
This passes for candy in Asia!
What does that have to do with Tony Jaa kicking a guy in the head?
Well, in this metaphor Tony Jaa represents the "candy" and "a guy" represents my gag reflex.

Now that you've gotten in my eyes..

Here's a Post-It Nightwing and little dinosaur(?) friend I've had sitting around for a long time.

May eat at the elite table..

It was actually sorta viscous..

Why don't we just make a day of these Cracked.com links I need to share with you?
Whaddaya say?

Just so you know, I would happily camp out a week in advance to see #3.

Highly suspicious of you...

Cracked. com brings you 30 Video Game Villain Recruitment Posters.
Mortal Kombat, Duck Hunt, and Star Fox are also strongly represented.

My skull is on fire..

Speaking of bands I love and new albums, the Old 97's have a new album coming out May 13 called Blame It On Gravity.

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

That just happens sometimes..

I swear to God I'm gonna come down hard on you on Monday. It's gonna be like a friggin' hurricane.

You'll be doing yourself a terrible disservice if you don't go check out the rest of his cards for the upcoming Marvel Masterpieces set.

Too many people...

If you're not new around these parts, you're probably aware that Sloan is one of, if not my favorite band.
They just announced they're releasing their 9th album in June.
This is very exciting to me.
Even more exciting is you can already listen to the entire album for free.
I won't talk about it too much, but I've enjoyed it so far with a few songs really standing out and one I think will be one of my all time favorites. Sometimes it seems like this band is writing songs just for me.

Leaving this little reminder..

Via Penny Arcade.

I bring this comic to your attention because I went ahead and pre-ordered WiiFit at my local video game shoppe.
You may think that I'm just into the idea of having fun while getting some exercise, but the real reason is my mental illness that forces me to buy every new, weird goo-gaw and doohickey Nintendo comes up with for their little white money machine.

Monday, April 21, 2008

Here we go..

I've got a little more hope for it now (Any is more than none, right?), but this still seems way too Frank Miller-y and not nearly Will Eisner-y enough for my tastes.

I don't know where you end..

I'm officially in love with Joe Quinones.

I'd open my mouth..

I want a woman who cares about me and not my money... Although I'll give you fifty dollars.

My ideal woman is one who cares about the world plus fifteen percent.
Even more here.
This movie is already better than Transformers.

I might forget..

What happens after you punch his butt a second time?
UPDATE!
There's a trailer out for the MK vs DC game.
Looks better than I thought it would.

When we look..

There is no such thing as psychology. It's all just made up crap. They're all con-men, all of them, even the women. Just remember that when they tell you how screwed up you are.
What the hell, people?!

The jig is up..

I've got trademark products all over my body because I was drunk one night. Don't live like me.

When you think of what people are capable of doing to one another and to other animals, when you add up all the centuries of cruelty and hatred and torture and it's still only a drop in the black ocean that is Darkseid, you realize you can't pussy around when you're writing the God of Evil so it all gets pretty intense and slightly disturbing. - Grant Morrison on Darkseid via CBR

You say it's your birthday...

Today is April's birthday!
Woot!
If you've got her phone number or e-mail give her a birthday shout there!
If you don't have either of those, feel free to leave her happy birthday wishes here or over on her blog!

I'm not cryin'...

For my film, 'The Creeping Kid'!

I love this blog.

Now your life's in great danger..

B--ch says I f-----g swear at motherlovin' kids
Batman Sues Miller for Defamation of Character.

Despite all the complications..

Which is to say 'like shit'.

My apologies for not being up to my usual posting standards this week, I feel like Frank Miller draws.

Burn.

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Be sure that he's dead..

Get it? Frank's dragging him through the mud. I'm so gosh-damn clever.
I think this newly released shot from the set of The Spirit sums up what Frank Miller is doing to the character perfectly.
Plenty more here.

I'm going to tell..

I'm sorry, but Edward Norton coming out of the Hulk's butt is funny to me.

Who's this crazy wise guy..

It Never Stops Raining will be returning shortly.
We promise.

Hometown looks so gray..

Curt is hell of soft and plush.

It's always better on holiday..

Speaking of things I'd like to own, I'm not sure why, but I really want these quite badly.
They're hell of expensive though, so I doubt it'll ever happen.

Come on and..

Awesome.
Not $40 awesome, but pretty awesome.
Ryu, Chun-Li, and Guile can be seen here.

EDIT : Oops! I didn't know John had already posted about these guys over at Super Punch. I assume most of you check out Super Punch on a regular basis, so sorry if you're seeing this a second time.

Thursday, April 10, 2008

Go get them..

I dabble in Photoshoppery.
Producer James Tucker talks about the end of Legion of Super Heroes as well as what's to come with Batman : The Brave and The Bold.

Kick it wicked nice..

I don't mind telling you I have absolutely no confidence in Frank Miller.
I think Frank Miller's Will Eisner's The Spirit is going to be awful.
I will be absolutely delighted to be proven wrong and if it's not awful I will sing Miller's praises far and wide, but he does not get the benefit of the doubt and a "let's wait and see how it is before we start naysaying" attitude from me.
G.I. Joe gets the benefit of the doubt because that picture of Snake Eyes was awesome.
The pictures I've seen from the set of The Spirit fill me with nothing but dread.
How much dread? Sufficient dread to make me think the movie is going to be not only awful, but awfully ridiculous.
Prove me wrong, Frank.
Please.

I know you don't need the confusion..

These guys treat him like shit and he still saves them.

I just started to back away because I didn't have much anger at the time.
Apparently July is known as "The Month Dark Horse Finally Gets My Money".
And this stuff is just the start.

You know what's wrong..

Does anyone have the song "Man, It's So Loud In Here" by They Might Be Giants?
If so, would you like to send it to me?
I'd sure appreciate it.
I can't find my copy of the album ("Mink Car") anywhere, and that song has somehow disappeared from both my work computer and my home computer.
I'd just buy it off iTunes, but apparently that album is unavailable.. thank you very much, Apple.
