I've decided to switch back to this font. What do you think? Do you prefer it, or the one I used on the last two posts?
If you can believe this.. they're making a live action Underdog movie.
Word finally hits the "street" on the direct-to-DVD Family Guy release.
If you're interested, you can get the entire Fantastic Four animated sereis from the 90s on DVD for 30% off at Amazon.com right now.
Check out how awesome the packaging for the sixth season of The Simpsons is going to look.
Speaking of seasons, don't forget that the first season of The Muppet Show will be available on August 9.
Even though it's coming out on August 16, I have to warn you all not to buy the DVD of Sin City. Yes, I know the movie was great, but a better 2-disc special edition will be out shortly thereafter.. so just do us all a favor and wait.

What's this about Luke Wilson banging Supergirl?
Warner Bros. have finally got the official site for the upcoming stop-motion fairy tale, Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, up and running. Visit it here... I'm lead to believe there may even be downloads.
Yet another trailer for the Fantastic Four has made it's way to the interweb. Almost everything I've seen about this movie has filled me with a sense of dread (the casting of the core quartet withstanding, as I have nothing against any of them), but I think you all already know I'll be at the theater seeing it on the opening weekend... so I might as well keep the lines of communication open, right?

From Reuters -
Among the North American records set by Revenge of the Sith were best one-day, two-day, three-day and four-day sales. It also managed to beat the five-day record. After opening just after midnight on Thursday, "Revenge of the Sith" earned $50 million during its first day, beating the $44.8 million tally for "Shrek 2" last year. The record-breaking streak continued into the second day ($83.8 million) and third day ($124.7 million). Its four-day haul of $158.5 million beat the old mark of $134.3 million set by 2003's "The Matrix Reloaded" -- as well as the five-day mark of $152.4 million set by 2004's "Spider-Man 2."

Don't know if I'd mentioned this before, but the Thundercats are coming to DVD on August 8, and you can have a look at the first set right here.
Don't forget that this Tuesday sees the release of The Adventures of Pete & Pete : Season One on DVD.
Time (the magazine) has gotten the real (or as real as can be hoped for) scoop on what's going on with Dave Chappelle. He's down in South Africa, but he's not in a mental institution, and you can read the interview here.
For those that are interested that Carnivale show on HBO has been cancelled.
In news I was interested to hear Stephen Chow says he may make a sequel to Kung Fu Hustle... which if you haven't seen yet, you really should.
Speaking of sequels, this sounds both exciting and makes me nervous, but there's also going to be a follow-up to The Dark Crystal. It's going to be called The Power of the Dark Crystal. Puppets and CGI. Animated series after the movie. Computer and video games as tie-ins.
Oh! I almost forgot. Also speaking of sequels, did you kids know they're making The Transporter 2? Well, they are. I liked the first one enough that I'd be willing to actually see this one in the theaters. Have a look at the poster.
Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz are making a western called Bandidas.
Tommy Lee Jones is directing and starring in a movie written by Dwight Yoakam. I kid you not.

Just so there's no confusion, that panel with the Joker from a Batman comic back in the '50s has not been doctored in any way.
For those who are unfamiliar with the term, a boner used to mean a goof up or laughable mistake.
If someone pulled a boner, that meant that they had goofed up or messed up.
Surely I'm not the only one who thought that was hilarious.

Hey kids.
So Saturday night is Mauxfaux's big show at the Young Avenue Deli.
The show starts at 8 I think, and we play at 10:30PM on the dot.
There will be 7 other bands playing that night as well.
I'm nervous with the butterflies in my stomach just trying to write this... so I hope you actually read it.
The tickets for this show are $10 if you want to get one from me before the show or $18 at the door.
I know a lot of you are probably thinking about or already maybe planning on going to MusicFest, but I sincerely hope you'll consider coming to see us if never again, this one night.
It's a voting thing and we need as many people as possible there to vote for us, because if we don't advance to the next round it may be our last show.
Without getting into the details of it all, I'll just say that some people aren't happy with the current state of things and if someone leaves, I think that's the end of it.
I really wish that wasn't the case.
I wish our schedules could all be a lot easier to coordinate and we could get things back to the practicing twice a week days, but that doesn't look to be possible at the moment.
I've been really upset/sad/sick to my stomach pretty much constantly for the last five days or so over it.
I hate that we've wasted a name change, 3 drummers, and almost 3 years of hard work developing a following and building a chemistry and making our music mean something to at least some of you.
So yeah, I'm sorry this isn't coming out exactly like it should.
The point is, I'd be really grateful to any and all of you if you could make it to this one show.
If you need to get in touch with me about tickets or anything else or if you just want to say anything about the band, feel free to respond.
I sincerely hope that this Saturday is not our last show, because I love this band, and I love playing with the four other guys in this band.
If it is our last show though, I want you all to know that it's been a lot of fun and I hope you all know how much I've appreciated your time and support of Mauxfaux.
best.

The first shot of Brandon Routh as SUPERMAN.
From what I've heard, this may not end up being the final version they end up using, but if it is, it could be a lot worse. The "S" being so small is my only real complaint.

Todd McFarlane is going to be releasing a line of action figures based on runaway smash weirdo comedy, Napolean Dynamite.
Figures planned for the first release are Napolean, Pedro, and Kip.
I'm sure they'll sell like hotcakes... to many of the people reading this I'd bet.
Ray Park (Darth Maul) may be back as Toad in the third X-Men flick.
Speaking of X-People, Hugh Jackman may play a young Pa Kent in a flashback scene in the upcoming Superman Returns.
You can also go here to check out some of the first photos of Brandon Routh as Clark Kent. I'll be damned if that guy doesn't look like Christopher Reeve. Also, you should probably watch this and see what you think. If you're at all interested in the Superman flick, or (and this is a big "or") in the upcoming King Kong that Peter Jackson is making, you'll want to watch it. Seriously.
Certainly anyone who's a fan of Calvin & Hobbes (and there'd damn well better be a number of you reading this) will be interested in checking this out.
You're Christmas list just got one item longer.
Who wouldn't like a plush Bruce Campbell?

More Superman : The Animated Series DVD season sets are on the way in anticipation of the upcoming feature film. Season 2 should drop around Christmas time with Season 3 following in the summer of 2006 to coincide with the movie's release.
Star Wars : Clone Wars Vol. 1 is available at DVD retailers nationwide tomorrow. Best Buy has it for $12.99, and that's the lowest I saw it anywhere. If you know of somewhere that has it cheaper, please feel free to let me know.
Also, the second season of Clone Wars begins airing tonight on Cartoon Network. Clone Wars fills in the gap of what happens between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.
We should see the release of the first season of The Muppet Show on DVD before the end of the year complete with a veritable cornucopia of extras. That's awfully exciting. I love the DVD times we're living in these days.
Billy Idol has a new album coming out tomorrow called Devil's Playground. I think it's at it's lowest advertised price at Target if you're interested in picking it up.
Speaking of Target, they've got the fifth season of The Simpsons on sale this week for only $29.99. That's a deal and a half.

Anyone see that Constantine flick this weekend? It's based on the DC Comic Hellblazer, and I don't think the previews gave me any reason to not want to see it.. so I probably will.
Just curious as to what any of you thought. I hear it's getting decent reviews, and (though this is no indication of quality) it's making pretty good bank so far.
This was a good week for DVDs with the release of the 2 disc Director's Cut of Donnie Darko, the first season of The Greatest American Hero, and the special edition of Half Baked.
This week sees the release of the 2 disc special editions of Heat, I Heart Huckabees, and three Miyazaki classics (Porco Rosso, The Cat Returns, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind).
Feel free to stroll over here to have a more in depth look at all of this week's releases.

This was a picture of a robot that I was working on one night when my computer decided to crash.
It was the most excited I had been about anything I'd drawn in a long time.
I couldn't do anything to the computer but turn it off, but before I did, I took a picture of the screen with my camera.
This isn't nearly as cool as the real picture looked, but it was the best I could do.

Hello there.
So this is my last week at Best Buy.
Yeah, I'm a little weird about it myself.
Bigger and better things, etc.
Speaking of bigger and better things.. or maybe just good things, whatever, apparently we (Mauxfaux)have been sought after by The Commercial Appeal for an interview. Since they didn't have our numbers the guy just started calling places we've played to see if anyone had a way to get in touch with us.
Thankfully, though by odd means, they were able to get in touch with us and we've got an interview and photo shoot with them today.
That's pretty exciting.
Also pretty exciting is the fact that I GOT MY FREE iPOD!
Part of me thought it wasn't really going to happen, but sure enough it showed up on my doorstep today, as promised.
Feel free to click here to get started towards getting a free one for yourself.
I mean, I did it, and it didn't cost me a penny for a $350 iPod.
How the hell can you beat that?
Okay, I think that's enough for now. I hope you're all well.

Well, Caroline is a big fan, so we started watching the first season the other night.
It's really good so far. I'm sure that's not news to any of you.
Just thought I'd share my opinion.
We also watched Van Helsing the other night.
Wow.
I don't even know where to begin... I mean, really... just wow.
I mean, really.
So bad.
Remarkably bad.
Monumentally bad on a number of levels.
And yet, it's not as though I regret watching it.
What does that mean?
Speaking of movies with vampires and werewolves, why don't you take a look at these new stills from the sequel to Underworld, titled Underworld : Evolution.

If you're at all interested in comics you should know that this comes out tomorrow! And even if you aren't interested in comics, you should check it out.

That's a link for all of you to go visit.
It's a picture of Batman that I did recently (and very quickly I might add) using my tablet.
Feel free to let me know what you think.

Comics are an endless source of entertainment ... even when they aren't trying to be funny.
Enjoy the trailer for Tim Burton's Corpse Bride.
Also, feel free to give this band, Eisley, a listen.
Caroline told me about them when we started going out and they're quite good if you're in the mood for their style of music. It's easy going, melody music... I think that's the best description I can give it.
If I'm not mistaken she also told me she's spent some time with one or more of the members.. so that's neat as well.
Oh, and their name used to be "Mos Eisley" (after a certain well known hive of scum and villiany) which might make some of you Star Wars fans more interested.

Look at how much fun comics used to be... and when I say fun, I mean ridiculous.

MY TOP 11 MOVIES OF 2004 (with commentary)
11. The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra - If you haven't seen this yet, you need to do so as quickly as possible. Well, actually, some of you probably wouldn't enjoy it, but MST3K fans would probably enjoy it.
10. The Punisher - I know there was a lot wrong with this movie (like it being set in Florida and primarily in the daytime!?!), but Thomas Jane WAS Frank Castle. I mean, nailed. He was perfect. That allows me to overlook some of the other problems.
9. Miracle - I like hockey. I like Kurt Russell. I like triumphant true stories. I like when people are able to achieve something greater than themselves. I like well made movies. This flick had all of the above.
8. Cold Mountain - It was a great movie. I don't know if I'd have liked it as much if Jude Law hadn't been in it, but I'm pretty sure I would have still liked it.
7. Kill Bill Vol. 2 - I'm sure anything that needs to be said about this movie has already been said a million times by people far wittier and/or more eloquent than I.
6. Anchorman/Starsky and Hutch/Dodgeball - I'm just going to consider these all one big movie where Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn got to goof around and have fun making themselves laugh.. which then makes all of us laugh.
5. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - See my commentary for KBV2.
4. Shaun of the Dead - One of us zombie fans really made good. I mean, Romero loved it for crying out loud. Found the perfect balance between comedy and horror and the comedy of horror. If you ask me, this flick did everything right in a way the Scary Movie series never will. In fact, I wish I hadn't even mentioned that series while I was talking about this fantastic film. Laugh out loud funny. Quotable funny. Spectacular zombies. Real emotion. Three ASH songs. What else do you need?
3. Spider-Man 2 - Left the original flick standing in the dust. It really should have been called The Amazing Spider-Man (as was originally planned) instead of just throwing a 2 at the end. Better performances all around. Much better in some cases. A seemingly better understanding of what makes Peter Parker who he is, as well as a better understanding of why he does what he does. A far better villain. Classic Sam Raimi flourishes. And, perhaps most importantly, more Spider-Man.
2. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - I know most of you probably didn't even see this movie. That makes me very sad. It's coming out on DVD in a week or two. If you've ever thought I was right about anything go out and buy this DVD or at least rent it. I'm serious. If you like Indiana Jones or classic 1950s sci-fi or action movies that are safe to watch with your kids or parents or grandparents or beautiful people (Law, Paltrow, Jolie) or great special effects or late 1930s fashion or just good movies this is it.
1. The Incredibles - My favorite Pixar movie of all time. Arguably their best movie to date. Arguably the best superhero movie of all time. In my All Time Top 10 Movies list.

I guess the casting of the major roles for the new Superman flick is all set now. Kate Bosworth (Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, Beyond the Sea) will be Lois Lane, and Kevin Spacey (American Beauty, The Usual Suspects, Beyond the Sea) will be Lex Luthor.
Anyone else excited?
For anyone that has even a passing interest in the comic strips in your daily newspaper, webcomics, or just interesting commentary on things in general, I'd like to recommend you read this. It won't take you long, and you might learn something about something... or something.
Then feel free to go here and catch Gabe from Penny Arcade's take on the situation.
Check out the trailer for An Evening with Kevin Smith 2 : Evening Harder.

Well, I'm psyched. Katsuhiro Ôtomo (creator of AKIRA) has a new movie coming out. It's called Steamboy. Go watch the trailer.
Check out these amazing publicity photos from Episode III... unless you don't like Star Wars. If you don't like Star Wars, there's not much there for you.. and you're an idiot.
There may be a sequel to Shaun of the Dead. It may very well be called From Dusk til Shaun. Simon Pegg has said the only format he'll do said sequel in is comic book format. Apparently, Marvel and DC both have been in touch with him about this and comics in general.
This may be the first poster for the Natalie Portman starring adaptation of the Alan Moore masterpiece, V for Vendetta.
CHUD.com's Worst 10 Movies of 2004. A list that's worth reading if for no other reason than it features this quote : Saying that Van Helsing sucked is like saying Hitler wasn't fond of Jews.
That's hilarious.

I saw The Phantom of the Opera tonight. I liked it. I didn't care for parts of it. I'd give it a 67,845 on a scale of 1 to 100,000.
The last I read, the death toll from the tsunami/tidal waves/earthquakes was over 125,000.
I'm sure the number is even higher by now. Where's the 9/11-style public outpouring from the celebrities etc. urging us all to help these people? Where's their benefit CD and concert and whatever else?
I read somewhere that medicine and aid is being rushed "as fast as possible" to the victims/survivors, but that the ratio of people in need to medicine and supplies is so one sided the people trying to give the aid are left asking who to give it to.
Who should get it first?
Should they just form a line and hope they make it to the front of the queue before they die?
Where does the wisdom to make these kinds of decisions come from?

You don’t tug on Superman’s cape.
This is a guy who can thread a tank through the eye of a needle. He can see the weather in Beirut and he knows what air freshener you used in your house six months ago by the smell of your clothes. You don’t mess with this guy.
It bugs me to see even minor villains all being so patronizing to Superman. That’s just asking for it. I don’t care how arrogant you are, this is a guy you treat with respect, and you’d damn well better say his name in all caps while you’re at it. People who call him the ‘big boy scout,’ should probably understand that very few boy scouts have heat vision, super-speed and an unbeaten track record for making despots and psychotic geniuses kiss his fist. I strongly suspect most of the villain community says his name in hushed tones, if they say it at all.

Judas Priest have named their soon to be released album featuring the return of Rob Halford.
Angel of Retribution will hit stores all over the US on March 1.
Look forward to an AC/DC double DVD in April.
This idiot rendered me speechless by reaching for levels of thoughtlessness, insensitivity, and unadulterated ignorance I previously thought unattainable. If you were a fan of Dimebag, heavy metal, or even rock music in general (or even if just someone you care about was into any of those) you need to check it out.
Apprarently, Queen is about to go on tour.

QUEEN guitarist Brian May- "We are all gutted to hear of the senseless and tragic death of Dimbag Darrell, who was shot by a 'fan' who climbed on the stage at a show of his new band, Damageplan. He was of course better known for his great playing in Pantera. Pantera were, I think, the first band that I and my son Jimmy both got equally excited about. It was Jimmy who first got me to see them. They were a great band, and Dimebag was an innovative and passionate player. Great musician. Terrible loss. My respects to him, to his family and friends. Also to those who were killed trying to save him and apprehend the gunman. RIP."

If you enjoyed the first poster for Batman Begins that debuted the other day, you might be interested to see the first international poster for the flick that debuted yesterday.
It's pretty rad.
We can all also look forward to seeing the second teaser trailer sometime next week.
The first trailer for Tim Burton's remake of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory.
Mr. Depp looks a little creepy in it at times, but I'm sure he gives a fantastic performance.
My Australian friend, Matt Pott, recently hipped me to this awesome bit of Astroboy merch.
Nice interview with Ryan Reynolds (aka Van Wilder) about the just released Blade : Trinity.

Holy crap, man!
I only need ONE MORE PERSON to sign up and complete one of the free trial offers, and I get my free iPod!
A lot of you signed up, but didn't complete one of the free offers, so if you're one of those people (or if you're a new person), I'd be very, very grateful if you would do so.
I wanted one of those iPods before just because they're cool and all, but now that I have no music whatsoever in my car after it got broken into Monday night, it'd be nice to have something to make my drives to school and work and around town a little less silent.
