It'll be here in February. It looks great. I'm very excited.
Check out the sweet Darwyn art on the covers.

I'd be more excited about Dark Knight if Begins hadn't slipped so quickly into formula somewhere near the middle of the third act. That said, DK looks pretty awesome so far.
Oh man, now I have to stop procrastinating it and read New Frontier. Those DVDs look sweet.
Am I the only Hellboy fan who thought the movie was sort of lame? Too much emo dramatic stuff and not enough punching monsters? I'm sure I'll see the sequel on DVD, though.
hellboy 2? where the hell did that come from?
Dylan - As to BB, yeah, but I kinda expected it to (big studio flick and all) so it didn't bother me as much.
You MUST read New Frontier! It's imperative.
The first Hellboy movie was indeed kinda lame, but it had some neat aspects as well, and this new flick from all accounts is going to be a straight up monster mash from start to finish.
April - I'm not sure I understand the question.
Yeah, you're sort of right. BB wouldn't have been so jarring had the first two acts (which I refer to as Super Awesome Ninja Batman!) not been so unconventional for a superhero movie.
And also, Batman has no time for girls. Fighting crime is his girlfriend. So shut up Katie Holmes! Go cry to Pasey about how Bruce Wayne left you.
I think April's bafflement has to do with the fact that the first movie didn't set any box office records, so, why the sequel? I was actually thinking the same thing when I saw the posters on CBR yesterday. But they're fairly cheap to make and have a built-in audience, so... why not? I mean, if Blade (!!!) can sustain three films (!!!!!), why not the Right Hand Of Doom?
And if Hellboy 2 is as you say it is: Monster Mash-O-Rama, well, sign me up.
Oh yeah, and I just requested New Frontier from my local library system, which rocks. It's sitting there with all those Y: the Last Man trades and the Starman trades I haven't read yet. I'll post a review... sometime.
i mean, since when are they making a hellboy 2? and now all of a sudden there's a poster. and did the first movie even do well enough to warrant a second?
from what i hear of Dark Knight, especially regarding the opening sequence and revelation of the joker, it's going to be pretty kick-ass.
hellboy i could definately wait on.
i also thought hb was lame, making him seem too hammy. like a big red bugs bunny or something. my wife actually enjoyed it more than i did cuz of the love story aspect, and she usually hates watching comic book flicks.
batman looks great so far! love the super simple design of the new "why so serious" teaser movie poster.
and i for one thought batman begins was great throughout! i felt like it kept a very close similarity to the best(to me anyway) batman comics, year one ,dark knight returns, and the long halloween.
and i could also skip indiana jones 4. lucas is a hack now and ford's too damn old for this. indy 3 was called the last crusade for a reason!
p.s.-are those "new frontiers" straight to dvd flicks or were they aired on cartoon network and i missed it???
Dylan - I completely agree with the leaving out the love interest. "Fighting crime is Batman's girlfriend." needs to be on a t-shirt. I'd say your design skills are being called upon.
I guess I'll hold off on any real judgment on HB2 until I see something a little more substantial that Ron Perlman's giant head.. which I guess actually is fairly substantial.
I'm waiting for Y to finish up before I start reading it. I've done a great job of keeping myself completely unspoiled for the last 5 years.
April - Hellboy made enough money in theaters, and more importantly on DVD to justify a second one. Plus, as Dylan said, they're pretty cheap to make and have a good built in audience.
Josh - Yeah, that description of the first scene (which I only skimmed so as to save a little of the surprise) has my excitement levels moving ever higher.
Jason - Everything you said about Hellboy I agree with, but I can say I'll still go see the new one I'm sure. You've also made me want to draw some kind of red Hellboy/Bugs Bunny amalgamation.
HELLBUNNY
New Frontier is straight to DVD.
New Frontier might force me to get a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player.
Curt - If it does, I'm glad to live within walking distance of you.
