Be sure that he's dead..

Get it? Frank's dragging him through the mud. I'm so gosh-damn clever.
I think this newly released shot from the set of The Spirit sums up what Frank Miller is doing to the character perfectly.
Plenty more here.

I will say this - having no real connection to the Spirit whatsoever - I like the fact that he's rocking the Chuck Taylors.

Beside that, I am all in favor of launching Operation: Stop Frank Miller. Say the word and I will push this chartreuse button that releases cybernetically-enhanced dolphins with jetpacks to kill grandpa before he can finish this film/another issue of All-Star Batman, etc..

Awaiting your response.

this it what the turd looks like when the world's biggest comic book nerd takes a dump in his florescent green lantern toilet.

i saw all the pics and the spirit himself doesn't look that bad. no blue suit but nod bad. and as a fan of chuck taylor's i don't mind those either. but sam jackson looks like an ass clown!

i'm still 50/50 on whether or not this'll be a total disaster.

Okay, I was trying to be fair and give this film a chance...until I saw those pics of Sam Jackson. NOOO!!! I'mglad this film is coming out in January. Plenty of time for it to be forgotten by the summer of 2009. This just doesn't look good at all.

Dylan - Just keep your finger near that button...

Jason - That's quite a mental image you paint there.

M. - That's a good way to look at it.

Jason, Re: Robocop 2

Keep in mind that the film Miller wrote and the film that got produced were two separate beasts. I have a feeling that Miller circa 1988-89 (I'm postulating a start date here) - right around when he'd start work on Year One, Hard Boiled and Sin City - could have been pretty dang sweet. That's the Frank Miller 13-year-old Dylan thought was the cat's polka dot pajamas. This other guy, I don't know who he is.

dylan- yeah i realize the script writers draft is often times changed drastically once the studios get their hands on it so i know robocop 2 isn't totally his fault. but the idea of a maniacal 12 year old crime kingpin (which seems like a very frank miller idea!)might be plausible in the hands of a frank miller comic but it didn't play out well in the movies, especially with the crappy kid actor who portrayed him.
