"When it comes to any group of stereotypical people the answer is always violence. Start swinging and singing children's bible songs and don't stop until everyone is in a coma." - Batjew

If you've been around me lately, you've probably heard me yammering on and on about this game that's coming out for the PS2 on my birthday called Kingdom Hearts. If you haven't been forced to hear me go on and on about it then I'll let you listen to me now. It's a collaboration between Squaresoft (the creators of Final Fantasy) and Disney. Not since peanut butter and chocolate got together has their been such an awesome alliance of almost unholy proportions. Then, to make my opinion of the game even higher, I e-mailed Gabe from Penny Arcade when I heard that he had a Japanese copy of the game, and told him how I was thinking of getting a PS2 just for that game. He told me I would not be disappointed. That my friends is good enough for me. Here's his review of the Japanese version.

This game may be too addictive. It's called Collapse and I don't want to stop playing it ever. If you liked Tetris or Dr. Mario or Bejeweled or any games like that I believe you'll enjoy this as well.

Here's a double whammy of quote hilarity...
"Look at it before it destroys you." - Megan
"Stay outta me black tar! You don't know me like I do!" - Danny

Seanbaby is back to save us from ourselves! Off you go now.
(In case you were thinking of not checking Seanababy's article out, here's a quote from it: If you can sue someone to put a missile on things you don't want destroyed, I hope you're ready for me to ride a bike that launches heat-seeking rockets and eat out of a lunch box that can shoot down helicopters. If all goes well, I'll have also sued to include hover jets and a sno-cone maker. You see, by believing in yourself and trusting in the system, stupid lawsuits just might lead to a paradise of snack-dispensing, rocket-launching vehicles after all.)

"Padawan tested, Master approved." - Matt (or Mattmattmatt as you may know him) on the new Star Wars cereal

I've begun the process of talking with the kids from the band Miles From Somewhere about becoming their new singer. Notice, I said "begun" because nothing has really taken place yet other than me saying, "Someone told me you guys were looking for a new singer and that I should give you a call." and one of them saying "Cool, I can't talk now because I'm studying for a final, but we'll talk more this weekend." That's really about the extent of it, but maybe something cool will come of it. Never hurts to be in another band.. just ask Blink 182's drummer.

Once you head to the rest of Hip Today, be sure to check out the new stuff in our stores and the new stuff in Stuff That's Freakin' Sweet.

"When a man lies he murders a part of the world." - Merlin (in Excalibur)

There are many truths in this world we live in, but one that will probably always hold true is that if Pixar makes a movie, I will go see it. I'm hoping all of you feel the same way, because I just got a glimpse of the superb cinematic goodness that they will be unleashing on us for the next three years.

Can this be true?! George Lucas admitting The Phantom Menace wasn't as great as he told us it was?!

I don't know how many of you are into that show Buffy, but I read an interesting rumor/clue/teaser about it from one of the shows producers that said the death at the end of this season will be the end of one of the couples, but will also be the beginning of "SuperXander". I have no idea what that means, but I like the sound of it for some reason. Even though I'm sure there is no connection between the two, the picture they showed of Xander (or Nicolas Brendan if you prefer) really made me stop and realize he'd make a pretty decent Superman for the upcoming flick. He couldn't be any worse than Brendan Frasier. In fact, I'm going to go as far as to say that he'd be a whole lot better.

If you're like me you're over 6 feet tall and named Chris... but you're also probably excited about the Spider-Man movie. Know what else I'm excited about? The Daredevil flick starring our very own sweet Benji-boy, Ben Affleck. I remember before we saw the first pictures of Spidey's costume there was all kinds of debates and such over how they were going to ruin it, and as of late the exact same thing has been going on in with Daredevil. Well, apparently this is the first actual picture of the costume. It's not the greatest clarity, but I still think it looks like it could be pretty cool. Here's another version of the same picture that's a little clearer. What do you think?

"Yeah, go eat apple dumplings." - Matt Drane

If you'd like to move on to the rest of Hip Today instead of reading some of my random ramblings and funny quotes and such, then feel free to click here... otherwise, keep doing what you were doing and read the stuff on this page and in the archives. I assure you there's plenty to see and do and go to within these archives to your left, but when you get done with them, please do continue on to the rest of Hip Today.

What are may favorite songs at the moment? I'm glad you asked because I'm going to let you hear them...
1,000 Suns
Final Destination
Holiday With You

All three of the songs are by a band called AM Radio. These kids are beyond good. I promise you that you won't regret getting these songs... and if you do regret it.. you're an idiot.

Chris' Final Thought for the Day: All dreamers are looking for is someone who will believe in them... and it's a shame all girls want a "man" not a dreamer.

If it makes any of you feel any better, I'm feeling pretty friendless here lately. I certainly miss the whole having friends thing... a lot. So yeah.. I guess that's all I have to say really as far as that goes.

Also, for the none of you that care, we wrapped shooting on "Escape" last Friday. It was a pretty long day, or at least it felt like it at times, but it was most definitely worth it. Felt good to have accomplished something worth doing. The editing process is going as quickly as Danny can make it go, and I think he's doing a great job with it so far. The rough cut we've got of some of the scenes is so good musically it would make you cry. If you'd like to check out the pictures from our the final couple of days of shooting you can do so by clicking here or here. Hope you like them.

If your name is TARA, you need to check this out because it was made especially for you by me (with some help from someone else).

I never thought I'd see the day, but here it is and I'm so so so so so so so so so so there!

I'm not sure if I should be excited or disgusted by this bit of news. Does every movie need to be remade?

In other anime news, guess what's coming to America next.

Saying that I was "unsure" what to think about the news that McG (the guy that directed Charlie's Angels) would be directing the new Superman movie, would probably be about the nicest thing I could say about my initial reaction. Regardless, here's some more from the man on his plans.

Seanbaby on Wonder Woman: "Maybe this is another gender double standard like how boys can have sex with girls without being called lesbians, but Wonder Woman should have at least put on a skirt. It looked like she was working for tips. If I saw her in a club, I'd say "Hey, give me change for that five, bartender. This next dancer looks cheap.""

All the news that's fit to print in an Andrew W.K. world! Andrew's on Ozzfest and I'm soooo there.

The Philosophy of Andrew W.K.

Target stores nationwide have Andrew W.K.'s new CD I Get Wet on sale this week for only $7.99. Do us both a favor and go get it.

Hip Today's very own Ben Affleck has a new movie coming out this Friday with none other than Mr. BMF, Samuel L. Jackson. It's called Changing Lanes and it looks like it could be pretty decent. No of the rest of The Regulars seem all that excited about it, but Benji-boy and Sam Jackson seems too good to pass up if you ask me.

ANDREW W.K. If you don't already think that this guy is something really special, watch the video for "Party Hard". This guy's recently released album has three songs with the word party in the title. THREE!! I don't see how you could not want to go buy his CD after hearing that song. Screw this noise I'm gonna go party hard. Smell ya later.
"I'm trying to make the most exciting music possible."--Andrew W.K.

For those that are interested, the destructive symphony known as Megadeth has broken up after 20 years of scaring parents. This is apparently due to an injury sustained by founder and frontman Dave Mustaine that has caused serious nerve damage to his left hand and arm.

I don't know whether to be pleased or very disturbed.

OH MY GOD!! Clearly I'm dreaming... because if I'm not and that and this are real then the world may be getting too cool for me to handle. Not only did I see this today but I also saw huge Spider-Man displays at the grocery store, Hardee's, Wal-Mart, and Target... and if these surely aren't signs of a new world order of coolness then I don't know what is. (If anyone is curious I wear a medium in t-shirts...)

I'm quoting this straight from CHUD, which I don't like to do (make direct quotes I mean), but it was so shocking that I had to share it with you. It's about Dolph Lundgren...
"Born Hans Lundgren in Stockholm, Sweden, Dolph has a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney and was awarded a Fullbright Scholarship to MIT. He also attended Stockholm's Royal Institute of Technology, Clemson, and Washington State and can speak Swedish, English, French, German and Japanese. On top of that, he is working on his third-degree black belt, won both the European and Australian full-contact karate championships and was team leader of the USA pentathalon team at the '96 summer olympics."
Holy crap.. all I can say is this guy should be ruling the world not making straight to video flicks... or maybe that's all part of his master plan.

Sweet jumping mugwumps! A really great comic (that I happened to enjoy) called The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is being made into a film. I was already excited about the fact that Sean Connery has signed on to play one of the lead roles, but I learned tonight that Eddie Izzard may also be playing one of the main roles in the film. God bless America.. or as Eddie would say "God dress America."

Who isn't looking forward to the Monsters, Inc. DVD? It comes out on my birthday you know...

Happy Easter everybody!
To celebrate this glorious holiday let's hear from Seanbaby on the subject of The Flash :
"You've probably seen normal everyday people suddenly go into an unstoppable rage because someone took 1.5 seconds too long to figure out the light turned green. I've personally broken my face headbutting an ATM in nearly every state in our great country because sometimes I swear the machine has to send a slow-moving ATM troll through a series of secret underground tunnels to find my money. The Flash moves at about the speed of light, so in the one second it took for you to freak out in a movie line, approximately one hundred and five years went by from his point of view. That means if you take all the time there's been since Jesus was tortured to death to right now and add in the thousand years before Jesus where people worshipped half-eaten caveman babies, that's how long a thirty second Pepsi girl commercial lasts for the Flash."

God bless you Seanbaby.

Awesome awesome awesome. A thirty-five minute interview with Gary Cherone.
You can also download Gary's new song "Need I Say More". It's a pretty tight song that some might call a follow up to "More Than Words". It's a similar setup (only guitar and vocals) and it's about a relationship.. only this is the downside of the type of love that makes you want to sing "More Than Words" to someone.. like when it doesn't work out. Still a great song though.

Some random quotes from my little sister's website/profile that I liked or identified with...
"Without the bitter the sweet wouldn't be sweet, without the sad the happy wouldn't be happy, and without you I would not be me..."
"Don't ask the sun to always shine...It can't, the clouds exist...Don't ask the leaves not to fall...the wind exists...Dont ask me not to love... I cant YOU EXIST!"
"One day we'll look back at this and run into a parked car"
"Open minded students everywhere owe a debt of gratitude to Abercrombie and Fitch. Not since Hester Prynne has an embroidered "A" been such a clear indication of whom to avoid."
"Suicide is a way of telling God you can't fire me I quit."

You can now pre-order the new Weezer album, Maladroit through Amazon.com if you're the ordering over the internet type.

"Yeah that's gone, turn around, turn the volume down, we're counting the days down, til the day when we'll live in a video, I'll be stone faced and pale, you'll pout in stereo, twenty four hours everyday of the year, oh what fun I can't wait til the future gets here"

Friday, March 29, 2002

If you're confused as to why you aren't at the normal Hip Today page and you'd like to go there, you can do so by clicking here.

Know what I bet you'd like to hear? The new version of Burndt Jamb. Speaking of Weezer, I totally heard Dope Nose on the radio last night. How cool is that? Even weirder was how I had this dream that I was in this grocery store and heard Keep Fishin' in between two muzak songs there. Weird, eh?

Thursday, March 28, 2002

See!! This here is yet another example of how evil girls are. Well, most are anyway.. it's true.

But then again, this is kind of sweet.. I guess.

Lord of the Rings you say? So who else is ready to drop about 200 bucks? (Actual price may vary.)

Who wouldn't like a mess of free comics?

So I saw that Blade movie. It was pretty good. It's not so much fine art, but it was pretty good. It was directed by Guillermo del Toro, who will be directing the big screen adaptation of Hellboy. What's more important for me to talk about though was the trailer for Jason X. That's right he's back from Hell. And in the future! And on a spaceship!! Whoo-hoo! I'm counting the days... that was sarcasm. The tagline for this flick is "Evil Gets an Upgrade." Don't worry though, I've taken the guesswork out of figuring out what the upgrade is, it's that it's going from crappy to craptacular.

Ok, remember that Jason X trailer I was talking about a few minutes ago (or seconds whatever). Ok, now imagine a new trailer that is the exact opposite... which is to say it's good. Real good. It's so damn good it's SPIDER-MAN! I honestly don't know how anyone is talking about anything but this.
