I don't know if you got a man or not..

SUPERMAN RIDES AGAIN!
I am incredibly grateful for how often I find myself blessed with awesomeness.
This particular bit of excellence was drawn for me by the amazing Joel Carroll.

Don't tell me the world is in trouble..

Details.
As if I didn't want to go to SDCC badly enough as is.

Full recap/details/thoughts/pictures/decompression on MoCCA coming soon, I promise.

New York City

I'm too melancholy for my own good sometimes.
It's really hot and sweaty here.
Smelly also.
Crowded.
I'm listening to Joey snore.
He's taken a ton of hella sweet pictures though.
Good first day of the show though.
I drew a bazilion Freddie Mercurys.

Glass houses won't burn..

Quick-style!

- Saw Eddie Izzard last night. It was both hilarious and awesome.
- The new Weezer album is fucking wonderful. Hard-to-believeably so.
- We leave for New York today! Hell of nervous!

So, no updates for a little bit, I imagine.. unless NY is really boring.
Wish us luck and all that.
If I don't come back because we've become super-famous, it's been really great getting to be a part of your digital lives.

Best $250 I ever spent.

We gotta go now..

I'm just saying.

Now go do that voodoo..

Harvey Korman has passed away.
My earliest exposure to Harvey Korman was on reruns of The Carol Burnett Show when I was a little kid, and then as The Great Gazoo on The Flinstones.
However, like a lot of people who remember him, I'll probably always remember him best from Blazing Saddles.
I don't know why, but my favorite line of his was, "How did he do such fantastic stunts with such little feet?"

It's fine, dude..

Robert Kirkman loved Speed Racer too!

My favorite part of his review : "If I had to pick a flaw in it, it would be that Christina Ricci didn’t come out of the screen and have sex with me. That’s the only flaw I can think of."

He was in the habit..

The farmer takes a wife..

Dreams come to life in steps.
Curt's up next.
Maggie is awesome for making these for us.

MoCCA is next weekend!
I'm hell of stressed trying to get everything all wrapped up and finished and figured out. I'm also crazy busy at work. All of this is to say I'm having a hard time finding time or energy to post. I apologize. I've really been wanting to keep everyone more up to date on what all has been going on with our comic, but I've been too busy doing stuff for it.

Actual panel from Let's Be Friends Again : The Mini-Comic.

A few things...
- Our new site will be up and at least walking soon. This blog will of course remain in action as it has for going on 6 years, but the new site will be where our comic adventures will continue in an ongoing, persistent, regular fashion. Seriously.
- The mini-comic itself will be available for anyone who wants one after we get back from New York. There may also be other little doo-dads and goo-gaws with our adorable mugs on them available. You never know if people are going to like doo-dads and goo-gaws. Or our adorable mugs. In the future, we hope to offer our adorable mugs on adorable mugs.. which is to say cute drinking receptacles, not other faces.

And I'm still sittin' here..

CROSS POST FROM DESTINATION : BLOG!

I know things have been a little slow over there (and here) lately, but check this entry from my "chrishaley loves comics every day" series out and then head over to D:B!.

Day Thirty-Seven!

In case you have been (living under a rock, that is), this week is the start of DC's Final Crisis! I'm rather excited about this comic, but what's even more exciting about this week at your LCS is the fact that it's Grant Morrison Does DC Week!

Not only is he responsible (on the writing end) for Final Crisis #1, but this week also sees the release of part two of his Batman R.I.P. story.

And, as if that weren't enough to slake your thirst for funnybooks penned by Scottish madmen, the next to last issue of the best comic in the universe, All Star Superman, is out this week as well!

It sure is, Lex. It sure is.

We gotta love to live..

You got the power!

This is how I waste both of our time.
I drew Green Lantern at a bar.

I'm sorry.

I made some banners about my comic book feelings.

A product of the drugs..

Rock, flag, and eagle!
Blog@ (via Kotaku via Worlds Collide) brings us our first look at Superman from the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe video game. Looks pretty good, I guess.

We were profoundly surprised..

I can't decide what's worse, American Idol or the people who watch American Idol and find it necessary to talk about it the next morning.

We talk and talk and talk about it..

Bryan Lee O'Malley liked Speed Racer too!
I didn't need anyone to validate my opinion, but that makes me feel good.
Generally if both I and one of my close associates agree that something is good, I know we are correct. Someone you respect thinking the same way is then not unlike some kind of delicious opinion icing on which one is able to turn one's tongue blue.

I'm still not crazy about Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim (though I've thoroughly enjoyed him in other things), but Mal has confirmed that he will be SP to the wonderful Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Ramona Flowers. I guess if he's good enough for Mr. O'Malley, he should be good enough for me. Speaking of the Ramona announcement, courtesy of Mal's LJ I found this article on FirstShowing that shares my joy over Ms. Winstead's casting.
To me, this casting is as perfect as Christian Bale as Batman, Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Keanu Reeves as a guy who can really convincingly say "Whoa" in that movie where he says "Whoa".
That article also lead me to this post that helps make me feel like Michael Cera might not be so bad after all.

In the lap of the gods..

Curt and I got to see a sneak preview of Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull last night.
It was fun.
The movie and the experience.
I think I want to see it again.

More than what..

Drawing by Ben Jones. Colors by me.

Starin' at the top of time..

Flash Gordon's due for a remake, and Christian Bale'll be back.. for a 5th and 6th Terminator.

You're running out of life..

DBTheMovie.com has our first look at Justin Chatwin as Goku as well as a shot of Emily Rossum as Bulma and some translations.
Stranger things have happened, I guess.
I trust Stephen Chow though.
Not really related, but this guy was Bryan Lee O'Malley's pick for Scott Pilgrim and I'm still inclined to think he'd be a much better choice than Michael Cera.

Do you need it..

Firstshowing.net has a look at the first signs of some improved CGI for The Incredible Hulk.

Much more subtle..

On the very slim chance you haven't already seen it, you can catch the new The Dark Knight trailer here in glorious high definition.

She's escaped from the past..

Blog@ says Mary Elizabeth Winstead (whom I've had a crush on since Sky High) is in final negotiations to play Ramona Flowers in Edgar Wright's adaptation, Scott Pilgrim vs The World.
As if I needed a reason to be more excited about a Scott Pilgrim movie.
Much less this reason.
I don't think I've ever done a post as such as this, but I have now been left with no choice.

You are the shadow of fear..

Even more pre-release Sloan goodness thanks to Fluxblog and Said the Gramophone.
Fluxblog has a nice review of the new album and the track "Witch's Wand", and StG has a musing on Sloan's place in Dan's life and "Cheap Champagne".
Get 'em while they're still up and awaiting your listening pleasure.

A way of interpretting..

Today's Penny Arcade is one of the best ever.
This might be the one I break down and buy a print of.

Would you please pretend..

Stereogum has my favorite track (I'm Not A Kid Anymore) from the upcoming Sloan album, Parallel Play, available for free (and legal) download!
Doesn't get much better than that.

Can you see that guys cubicle..

Damn that girl can't ever hurt you enough.

I know this one is going to be a big stretch, but does anyone have/have access to the music song "American Girls" by the band Homie?
The song appeared on the soundtrack to the "movie" Meet the Deedles if that helps jog anyone's memory.

Next month's rent...

Some "unfinished" footage from Neil Gaiman and Henry Selick's upcoming stop-motion adaptation of Coraline.
Looks wonderful if you ask me.

I'm leavin'..

No matter what any couldn't be bothered to pay attention to the movie-critics tell you, Speed Racer was absolutely incredible.
Not only was every frame of this movie visually arresting, but the story and cast made it so much more emotionally resonant and engaging than that other big movie dreamed of being.
I know the box office tally won't reflect this, but I just think this was a better movie.
I cared about the characters, the races were exhilirating, the fights were both animated and incredible, and there were multiple times I felt tears welling up in my eyes.
Don't get me wrong, I still think Iron Man was great, but I don't mind telling you I'd much rather see Speed Racer again.
And again.

It may be the devil..

I hope to own this statue at some point in my life.

That seems reasonable..

Tell the guy that's shooting to stop shooting!
The Braxcave has done a pretty fine, and I'd say fun, job of casting 2011's (I can't believe I'm talking about that year like it's a real thing. Who'd have guessed?) Avengers movie.
